Marketing Cloud runs customer journeys across email, SMS, push, and paid media from one journey-orchestration layer, called Journey Builder, that sits on top of Salesforce's broader CRM data. That's the real draw for a large organization: a support ticket, a purchase, or a sales-rep note in Salesforce can all trigger or personalize a marketing message without exporting data anywhere. Setup and ongoing administration usually need a certified admin or a systems integrator, since the platform's flexibility comes with a genuinely steep learning curve.
Pricing is not a single number, since Marketing Cloud is really several editions bundled under one brand. Entry-level Starter and Pro Suite editions run per user per month, in the tens to low hundreds of dollars, while the Growth and Advanced editions common at larger companies price per organization per month and climb into the thousands, with legacy Engagement contracts still running from roughly $1,250 a month at the low end to $15,000 or more at typical enterprise contact volumes. There's no free tier, and implementation costs on top of the license are standard. This is the right choice for a company already running its sales and service operations on Salesforce that wants marketing data unified with the rest of its CRM, not for a team that just wants to send a newsletter.
