What Userpilot is

Userpilot is a product growth platform for software companies. Its homepage headline is "You ship the feature. Userpilot AI gets it adopted," and the platform covers in-app engagement, product analytics, user feedback, session replay, email, mobile and Workflows. Email is one module in that suite, described in the menu as "Send behavior-triggered emails," and Workflows as "Orchestrate multi-channel engagement." For a reader choosing an email platform, Userpilot is the option where email is driven by what users do inside a SaaS product rather than by a mailing list.

The homepage invites visitors to "Join 1000+ companies using Userpilot to onboard, engage, and retain users," and elsewhere mentions 1,200 companies. It names its teams as product management, UX and design, customer success, product marketing, growth, marketing and engineering.

Email and Workflows

The company's own blog post on transactional email software lists Userpilot as "Best for PLG teams running omnichannel campaigns" and explains the idea: "Email is one channel inside a bigger in-app engagement motion, coordinated with the same flows, checklists, and surveys your product team already builds." An email can fire "not only when a password resets or payment fails but also when a user finishes onboarding or drops off mid-workflow." Workflows then turn one trigger into a sequence, for example an email when a user stalls at checkout, a survey a few days later, and an in-app nudge after that.

The features the post lists for Userpilot's email:

  • Drag-and-drop builder with control over layout, fonts, colors and width, and sections for buttons, images, video, HTML and dividers, no code required.
  • Dynamic personalization with user attributes such as first name, plan type or company name in the subject or body.
  • Email localization, with language versions of the same email matched to each recipient's locale and a default for everyone else.
  • Flexible send timing: immediately on an event, or recurring sends with stop conditions such as "until the goal is met" or "until the email is opened."
  • Performance metrics: sends, delivery rate, opens, clicks, unsubscribes and bounce rate, updated in real time.

The same post says "Growth and Enterprise plan users get 100,000 emails per month for free," calls the entry price "a real consideration for early-stage teams with a small budget," and describes Userpilot as ideal for "mid-market and enterprise SaaS teams looking to combine transactional and behavioral email and in-app into one automated journey." The product-led growth post calls Workflows "our visual canvas for orchestrating multi-step user journeys across in-app experiences and email."

In-app engagement, analytics and feedback

The larger part of the platform lives inside the customer's product. The homepage lists in-app onboarding flows built without code, tooltips, banners, spotlights and contextual nudges, and an in-app resource center, with engagement "across every channel" (in-app, email and mobile). The product-led growth post mentions onboarding checklists and says Sked Social introduced a checklist with Userpilot "without writing custom code" and saw a threefold increase in conversion.

Product analytics covers event autocapture; path, funnel, trend and cohort reports; AI insights with real-time notifications; and predefined and custom dashboards. User feedback includes NPS and CSAT surveys, in-app, mobile and email surveys with behavioral logic, and feedback analytics. Session replay offers unlimited replays, funnel and drop-off replays linked to analytics, detection of rage clicks, errors and frustration signals, tags, notes and team playlists, with "Auto-Masking with HIPAA, GDPR & SOC 2."

Use cases

The homepage groups the platform under seven use cases: user onboarding ("Guide new users to value faster with contextual in-app & email experiences"), product adoption, self-serve support ("Deflect support tickets with proactive in-app guidance that scales"), expansion revenue, feature launches, churn prevention ("Catch at-risk users early and act before they drop off") and feedback collection. Its mission section stresses speed ("Launch, iterate, and optimize without a single dev ticket") and simplicity, meaning in-app experiences "anyone on your team can launch and iterate on."

Userpilot AI, Lia and MCP

Userpilot's AI layer is described as "The AI That Analyzes, Advises & Acts." Its agent, Lia, "analyzes your product data, generates content, and executes actions," and the product-led growth post says Lia "builds full onboarding flows from a single outcome prompt." Agent Analytics tracks "every agent's performance," and the blog shows an agent observability view with conversation logs. The Userpilot MCP server lets teams "Bring your Userpilot data into any AI tool you use," with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Copilot and any MCP client named on the homepage.

Data and integrations

The Data section of the menu has Data Sync, described as "Push data to your warehouse" and "Export Userpilot data to BI tools for deeper analysis," and an integrations directory. The homepage says the platform can "Send product data to your stack and pull CRM or analytics data back to power smarter targeting," and "Sync CRM data to power smarter in-app targeting."

Scale, security and customers

The homepage publishes these figures: 2.5T events analyzed, 99.99% platform uptime, under 200ms processing latency and 39M monthly users. It cites a 4.6/5 rating from 988 verified reviews on G2. Its security statement reads "Enterprise-grade protection with SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, and HIPAA compliance," and the footer links to a Trust Center and a system status page. Customer results on the homepage include a 36% increase in customer lifetime value, a 79% renewal rate for users with custom onboarding flows, a 75% increase in feature usage, a 25% reduction in support chat requests, a 17% increase in conversions and a 99% reduction in one-to-one customer training hours.

Pricing and trial

Learning material includes a knowledge base, getting started videos, a SaaS benchmark report and the Product Drive conference. The menu links to a pricing page and an enterprise offer with professional services for implementation and strategy. The homepage offers "Get Started" with "No credit card required," a free trial link and demos. The transactional email post refers to Growth and Enterprise plans and the included email volume, but no prices appear on the homepage or the two blog posts.

Who it suits

Userpilot suits SaaS product, growth and customer success teams that want onboarding, feature adoption and churn prevention handled from one tool, with email as a follow-up channel to in-app guidance. It fits teams that already think in product events and want email triggered by them. A business that mainly sends newsletters or promotional campaigns to a subscriber list, with no product to instrument, will use little of it, and the blog itself flags the entry price as a consideration for early-stage teams.
