What it is

Sinch is a communications company that sells APIs and ready-made applications for messaging, email, voice and verification. Its homepage calls it "the communications infrastructure the AI era runs on" and describes "Enterprise-grade messaging, voice, and email with delivery, routing, compliance, and fraud prevention built in from day one." The same page sums up the model in one line: "APIs for builders, ready-made applications for teams." Email is one channel among several here, next to SMS, RCS, MMS, WhatsApp, voice and SIP trunking. The homepage says Sinch is "Trusted by 200,000+ customers around the world."

The site lists regional offices and support hours in Atlanta (Americas), Stockholm (EMEA), Singapore and Melbourne (both APAC). For a reader choosing an email platform, the relevant parts are the Email APIs, the Email Platform application, and the email brands Sinch lists among its own products: Mailgun, Mailjet and Email on Acid.

The product lineup

The homepage splits the offer into three groups. The first is APIs: Messaging APIs, Email APIs, Voice APIs, Verification APIs and Numbers APIs. The pitch to developers is that teams can start small or scale globally, and that the APIs "provide the secure, reliable foundation you need to connect with every handset worldwide." Developer documentation is organized by the same areas (Messaging, Voice & Video, Email, Verification, Numbers & Connectivity), with a developer forum, a knowledge center and the Sinch Build dashboard for account work.

The second group is applications for business teams: a Messaging Platform, an Email Platform, a Chatbot Builder and a Contact Center. The homepage describes these as "User-friendly apps to help marketers engage their customers" that let teams "Send messages, create email campaigns, and build chatbots that improve customer experience and grow your business."

The third group is network connectivity, "designed to manage everything from number provisioning to complex routing services." This is the telecom side of the business and matters to email buyers mainly because it explains the scale Sinch claims.

The footer product list names Business Phone Numbers, Sinch Voice, Sinch Engage, Conversation API, Verification API, Mailgun, Mailjet, Email on Acid, SimpleTexting, ClickSend, Chatlayer and Contact Pro. For a team that mainly needs campaign or transactional email, Mailgun and Mailjet are the dedicated email products in that family, and the partner menu has separate Mailjet and Mailgun marketplaces next to the Sinch Marketplace and the Sinch Engage Marketplace.

Use cases the site names

Sinch frames its products around four use cases. Marketing campaigns: "Engage customers and increase conversions with messaging and email marketing campaigns." Notifications and alerts: "Inform customers and improve satisfaction with vital account, service, or event updates." Identity and security: "Safeguard customer data and increase trust with email, messaging, verification and voice APIs." Customer care: "Support customers and increase customer satisfaction with timely pre- and post-sale service on any channel."

The solutions menu also lists teams (marketing, security and risk, customer support, operations) and industries: financial services, retail, technology and AI, healthcare, telecommunications, communication service providers and martech. The platform ecosystem section names Adobe, Emarsys, SAP, HubSpot and Shopify.

Sinch Engage, the messaging app

Sinch Engage is the ready-made messaging platform, and the site says it was formerly known as MessageMedia. Its page is built around SMS, MMS, RCS and WhatsApp rather than email campaigns, so an email buyer should read it as the text messaging companion to the email products. Email does appear in one form: an email-to-SMS feature that turns emails into texts, listed with use cases such as text reminders, group texting, chat to text, text to pay and two-way texting.

The features the Engage page describes:

  • Rich messaging. Images, GIFs and videos from a dedicated number, text promotions sent via SMS, MMS and RCS, and interactive WhatsApp campaigns.
  • Automated notifications. Reminders and updates on bill payments, events and appointments triggered from CRM, ERP or martech systems, plus drip campaigns for "welcome, thanks-for-ordering, and abandoned cart reminders."
  • Two-way conversations. One team inbox for replies across channels, assignment of conversations to marketing, sales or operations, and templates for common responses.
  • Numbers. Dedicated local and toll-free numbers for a consistent sender identity.
  • Subaccounts with custom permissions and access control for teams and departments.
  • Analytics covering subscriber growth, click-through rates and delivery rates.

The Engage integrations are HubSpot, NetSuite, Salesforce, Zoho CRM, ActiveCampaign, Shopify, BigCommerce, Epic and Microsoft Dynamics. The HubSpot integration syncs contacts and tracks engagement, the Shopify one builds segments from shopping behavior and automates abandoned cart recovery, and the Epic one sends medication alerts and helps reduce no-shows. The page also names industries it serves: beauty and wellness, fitness, retail, hospitality and healthcare.

Scale, reliability and compliance

The homepage argues that "Most messaging platforms route through multiple intermediaries. Sinch connects directly with fewer hops, better deliverability, and 99.99% uptime across 60+ countries." It backs that with four figures: 600+ direct operator connections, 160M+ active phone numbers, 100B+ calls completed yearly and 900B+ texts and emails sent yearly. The Engage page gives its own numbers: 20+ years in business, 5B+ SMS delivered yearly, 24/7 live chat and email support, and 99.9% system reliability.

On compliance, the Engage page says "Sinch Engage is GDPR and ISO27001 compliant." The main site links to a Trust Center, a service status page and a Security & Compliance section. The homepage also says Sinch is a 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for CPaaS and was named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape for communications engagement platforms.

Sinch AI appears across the site: "From our connectivity layer to our applications, we leverage AI to reduce fraud and help you get more done with less work." The Engage menu has an AI messaging features section.

Customer stories

The homepage stories are mostly about text messaging. Clarins reports a 79% read rate on RCS and "3.5x more redirections than Rich SMS campaigns." EasyPark Group reports a 97% delivery rate. Yandy reports a 35% SMS click-through rate and 100K SMS subscribers in two years. Ivrnet, a telecommunications customer tagged with SMS and email, says adding SMS helped its clients collect payments faster. On the Engage page, Clothing the Gaps says it increased Black Friday campaign ROI by 2,000% by targeting its engaged audience with SMS, and OneMRI says it cut admin time by 3 days a week.

Pricing and trial

Both pages link to pricing, but neither prints prices. The homepage offers "Contact sales" and "Try for free," and the Engage page offers a trial: "Give Sinch Engage (formerly MessageMedia) a try for 14 days. No credit card required." Support is 24/7 by live chat and email for Engage, and the site is available in English, German, Portuguese, Spanish and French.

Who it suits

Sinch fits larger organizations that want one supplier for email, SMS, RCS, WhatsApp, voice and verification, and developers who want those channels behind APIs. Healthcare, retail and hospitality teams that already run HubSpot, Salesforce, NetSuite, Shopify or Epic will find ready integrations on the Engage side, and the subaccount model suits companies with several departments sending messages.

A small business that only wants to send a monthly newsletter has less reason to start here. Sinch presents itself as infrastructure, and its pages say more about carrier connections and messaging apps than about email editors or list tools. That reader would look at the email-specific products in the Sinch family, Mailgun and Mailjet, which have their own sites and pricing.
