What Octeth is

Octeth is self-hosted email marketing software that runs campaigns, automated journeys and transactional email from a server you control, and it can be white-labeled and resold as your own email service. The homepage sums it up as "Send at scale. Pay once. Keep your data." and describes it as "Self-hosted email marketing for agencies, SaaS companies and enterprises". Instead of per-contact subscriptions it is sold as a perpetual license, with a free Community Edition for smaller lists. The company says it has been building email infrastructure since 1999, and its leadership section reads "27 years of email. Four email companies built." It reports 20K+ installations, deployments in 138 countries and "2M+ emails sent every day through Octeth installations". The footer lists offices in New York, London and Istanbul and names the company as 50SAAS, LLC, which also runs Cleanify for list validation, IPMonitor for IP reputation monitoring and Sendloop, an email marketing SaaS. The founder and CEO is Cem Hurturk.

Campaigns

The campaign editor is drag-and-drop, built on Stripo and Unlayer, and raw HTML is also supported. The homepage lists A/B and multivariate testing with automatic winner selection, spam scoring and inbox previews on every campaign, and scheduled, recurring and timezone-aware delivery. Sends can be throttled per ISP, and "Every send previews across inbox clients before it leaves." The latest release, v5.9.6, is announced as bringing a new user interface for customers and a complete admin API for building your own console.

Journeys and automation

Automation runs through Journeys. According to the homepage, a journey can "Trigger on signups, clicks, purchases or API events", then branch on behavior, wait, tag, send email or SMS, or call a webhook, with "Eleven action types, unlimited steps". The visual builder handles conditions, waits and splits, analytics are reported per step and per ISP, and your application can trigger a journey through the API. The FAQ adds website event targeting and personalization to that list.

Audience management

Lists, custom fields and tags are unlimited. Segments combine behavior, fields and tags with AND/OR logic and are recalculated live. Imports come from Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Drip or CSV and, the page says, keep consent and history intact. The audience tools include suppression lists, double opt-in and GDPR consent records. Bounces and complaints are processed automatically through feedback loops with major ISPs: "Hard bounces are immediately suppressed. Complaint emails are automatically unsubscribed."

Transactional email and the API

Receipts, password resets and alerts go out through the same installation as campaigns. Transactional sends use a REST API or an SMTP relay, sender domains are verified with their own API keys and webhooks, sent, opened, clicked and bounced events are tracked per message, and suppression and consent rules are shared with the marketing side.

The API is broad. The homepage headline is "315+ endpoints. Everything scriptable.", and it says every screen in Octeth is available through the REST API, with JSON and XML responses, HMAC-signed webhooks for every event, server-to-server postback tracking, and a plugin and hook system for building custom features. The FAQ lists integrations "via API, webhooks, and Zapier", naming WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Salesforce, HubSpot and custom applications.

Reporting

Dashboards cover opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes, conversions, revenue attribution, engagement over time and comparative campaign analysis, and reports export to CSV or can be pulled through the API.

White-label ESP

Octeth is built to be resold. You can create unlimited client accounts, each with its own domain, branding, limits and billing, and "Your customers log in to your product, not ours." Tenant data is isolated, user groups carry limits, credits and pricing, and one-click impersonation helps with support. The FAQ describes complete white-labeling of the domain, logo, brand colors and login page, and says footers, unsubscribe pages and preference centers can be customized per client. One license covers one installation, with unlimited user accounts or brands inside it, each with isolated lists, campaigns, templates and reporting.

Hosting and delivery

Octeth deploys with Docker Compose on any Linux server, on AWS, DigitalOcean, Hetzner or bare metal, and "Upgrades are one command." Delivery goes through the provider you choose, with failover and per-client routing rules: the homepage names Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mailgun, Postmark, SparkPost or your own MTA, and the FAQ adds PowerMTA, KumoMTA, Halon and Postfix, with multiple gateways at once for redundancy. Subscriber records, events and logs stay in MySQL on your host, with no third-party tracking, full export and audit logs, and the company says "GDPR, HIPAA and data-residency reviews get simpler."

The FAQ gives server sizes: a VPS with 8GB RAM, 4 CPU cores and 50GB storage handles most use cases, while high-volume senders should plan for 16GB+ RAM, 8+ CPU cores and 200GB+ storage. It puts a basic VPS at $50-100/month, and the company helps set up on AWS, DigitalOcean or another cloud. Most updates take under 5 minutes, and you choose when to update.

Pricing and license

The perpetual license is listed "From $5K one-time", covering the software license plus installation on your server. It includes unlimited subscribers and sends, unlimited client accounts, full white-labeling, 12 months of updates, 12 months of support, migration assistance and full API access; the FAQ adds 4 training sessions. After the first year the software keeps working, and an optional annual service package, "from $3K/yr" on the pricing panel and "$3-5K/year" in the FAQ, continues updates, support and consulting hours. There is a "30-day money-back guarantee on every license."

The pricing panel is clear about what is not included: the server and email delivery. You pay your own provider per email, such as Amazon SES, or run your own mail server, in which case "the license is the only software cost."

The Community Edition is free: "Free for up to 10,000 subscribers. Runs on your own server. No credit card, no time limit." The FAQ describes it as having core features and suggests it for testing, with live demos for the full platform.

Support and migration

The FAQ says Octeth is not only for technical agencies: the company provides migration support, setup assistance and consulting, and "Many of our agencies have no dedicated tech team." It says it has migrated agencies from Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Maropost, GetResponse, Constant Contact and Sendinblue, carrying over lists, segments, templates and automation workflows where possible, and that most agencies are sending campaigns within days. The homepage lists 24/7 support availability, and the site offers documentation, an API reference, a community portal and free deliverability tools such as SPF, DKIM and DMARC generators and an IP warm-up planner.

Who Octeth suits

Octeth suits an agency that wants to run email for many clients under its own brand, a SaaS company sending both lifecycle and transactional mail at volume, and an enterprise that must keep subscriber data on its own servers. The perpetual license rewards large lists. It suits less well a small sender who wants a hosted tool with delivery included, since the server and the sending provider are separate costs.
