What FluentCRM is
FluentCRM is a self-hosted email marketing and automation plugin for WordPress, made by WPManageNinja. It sends email campaigns, newsletters, drip sequences and automated workflows from inside the WordPress dashboard, and it adds SMS and WhatsApp messaging and a lightweight CRM on top. The site describes its aim as making email marketing affordable for small businesses, and says it is trusted by 80,000+ businesses, with a 4.8/5 rating from reviews.
The model is simple: the plugin runs on your WordPress site, your contacts and campaign data sit in your own database, and you pay a yearly fee per site rather than a price that climbs with your list. The docs FAQ puts it this way: FluentCRM "runs and stores your data inside your WordPress dashboard and charges only a yearly fee for the plugin." The home page announces version 3.2.0 as the current release.
Email campaigns and design
Campaigns are built in a native block editor, or laid out visually in a drag-and-drop editor, with ready templates to start from. You can send one-off broadcasts and newsletters to a chosen audience, or set up recurring campaigns that go out on a schedule, which the site says send "only when it makes sense." Personalization uses what the site calls Smart Codes: you insert subscriber details anywhere in an email, and tailor content by contact data, tags and behavior.
Sent newsletters can be published as pages on your own site. The home page calls these resource hubs and says you can share up to 50 newsletters this way, so visitors can see what they would get before subscribing.
Sequences and automation
Email sequences are drip series that send in order, and they connect to the automation builder. Automations turn WordPress activity into follow-up: sign-ups, logins, profile updates, form submissions, purchases and bookings. Automations use triggers, waits and decisions, and the site shows ready recipes: deliver a lead magnet when someone submits a Fluent Forms form, trigger an upsell after a FluentCart purchase, remind shoppers who abandoned a cart, follow up after a FluentBooking appointment, run a feedback campaign after a Fluent Support ticket, onboard new FluentCommunity members, thank a donor and ask for a monthly gift, or welcome a new affiliate. Abandoned cart recovery is a feature in its own right: FluentCRM detects shoppers who left items in the cart and sends timed reminders.
Contacts, segments and reporting
Every contact has a 360° overview with activity, tags and history. Contacts can be grouped by behavior, interest, purchases, engagement or any custom filter, and a testimonial on the features page lists tagging, lists, logged interactions and custom fields as everyday tools. A Company module tracks businesses alongside the people who work there, for B2B relationships. Lead capture forms drop new sign-ups straight into a list, tag or automation. Reporting goes past opens and clicks: the home page says it covers campaigns, automations, stores and e-learning.
SMS and WhatsApp
FluentCRM sends more than email. The features page says SMS campaigns and automations run through Twilio or Amazon AWS, triggered by user actions, and the home page adds WhatsApp campaigns and automations, with the ability to reply when a contact asks something.
AI features
The home page promotes AI for marketing work with Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or other AI agents. The listed features are AI email writing for subject lines and body copy aimed at a segment and goal, an AI contact summary of a customer's journey and sentiment, quick answers through MCP, 25+ MCP tools that connect AI to contacts, campaigns and automations, and support for 6+ LLMs.
How sending and deliverability work
FluentCRM does not send email on its own. Its deliverability page explains the chain: FluentCRM creates and triggers the campaign, the free FluentSMTP plugin routes it, and the delivery service you connect sends it and handles delivery events. The FAQ says FluentCRM uses WordPress's default mail function, so an SMTP service such as MailGun, SendGrid or Amazon SES does the sending. The deliverability page names ToSend, Amazon SES, MailGun, Sendgrid and Postmark as services you can connect, notes that FluentSMTP connects them by API, and describes a fallback that routes failed emails through a backup connection. FluentCRM detects and syncs failed and bounced emails automatically to keep the list clean. The page's pitch is that you pay only for the emails you send, to the provider you choose.
Integrations and API
The site says FluentCRM works directly with 45+ WordPress plugins; one FAQ names WooCommerce, Fluent Forms, MemberPress, LearnDash and Tutor LMS, and another names Easy Digital Downloads, LifterLMS, AffiliateWP, Paid Membership Pro, WPFusion, Uncanny Automator and AutomatorWP. The footer adds BuddyBoss. FluentCRM belongs to a family of plugins from the same maker, with forms, e-commerce, support, bookings and community tools built to work together. It only runs inside WordPress, but the FAQ says other platforms can connect to it through webhooks and the REST API, and the documentation covers developer hooks.
Performance and data
The pricing FAQ says FluentCRM stores campaigns and contacts in custom database tables so they do not weigh on the WordPress database. The app is built with VueJS, runs only when you open the FluentCRM dashboard, and the admin is a single-page application that talks over Ajax. The company says the plugin has gone through extreme load testing and handles large contact databases and email volumes.
On data protection, the FAQ says FluentCRM "is fully GDPR compliant", that your data never goes to a different server and is saved and managed inside your WordPress site, and that you are the sole owner of it.
Pricing
There is a free version. The features FAQ says you can start free with core marketing automation, CRM and email features and no credit card, and upgrade to Pro for advanced features and automation. Pro is priced by the number of sites, "not by the size of your list", and every plan includes unlimited contacts and all features:
- Solo/Blogger: $129 a year for a single site license
- Small Business: $249 a year for a 5 site license
- Agency License: $499 a year for a 50 site license
The pricing page shows a first-year discount of 20%, which brings those plans to $103, $199 and $399. Each license includes one year of plugin updates and one year of priority support, and checkout carries a 14-days money back guarantee. The FAQ answers the hidden-cost question plainly: "you'll only pay the annual fee and that's all," with no add-ons to buy and no higher fee as the list grows. Email delivery is billed separately by the sending service you connect.
Support
Support comes through documentation, developer docs, a support team, video tutorials, beginner lessons on the fundamentals, a monthly digest and a community where users share workflows. Reviews on the pricing page praise the support team for helping with setup.
Who it suits
FluentCRM suits businesses that already run on WordPress and want their email marketing, automation and contact data in the same place: WooCommerce and FluentCart stores, course sites on LearnDash, LifterLMS or Tutor LMS, membership sites, nonprofits and agencies with many client sites on the 50-site license. Large lists benefit most from the flat pricing. The caveats are that it only runs inside WordPress, and that you choose, pay for and set up your own delivery service, so deliverability depends on that service and on your configuration.
