What it is

Kowal Newsletter Suite is not a standalone email platform but a set of Magento 2 modules that turn the store itself into an email marketing system. Instead of sending subscribers to an external service, the suite keeps signup forms, consents, lists, segments, templates, campaigns, sending and tracking inside Magento. It comes from Kowal, a Magento developer that also sells Magento extensions, store implementations and Magento hosting, and it is aimed at online retailers already running Magento 2 who would rather not layer a separate SaaS tool on top.

The company's article introducing the suite puts it plainly: "this is not a single module for sending mailings, but a set of specialized components that together build an internal email marketing system for Magento." It covers "subscription capture, marketing consent, audience management, lists and segments, content creation, campaign scheduling, sending, queues, tracking, and an operational dashboard."

Packages and components

The article names three packages. Advance Email Delivery organizes the sending layer. Advance Email Delivery and Tracking adds monitoring and observability. Advanced Newsletter Suite brings recipients, content, campaigns, the subscription frontend and the operational panel together.

Underneath sit several modules. MarketingCore is the shared core for configuration and message types. EmailTransport and EmailSmtp form the layer for "routing, sending accounts, fallbacks, and logs." NewsletterAudience models recipients, lists, segments, consents and metadata. NewsletterCapture and NewsletterFrontend handle subscription capture. EmailTemplateStudio is the content builder, NewsletterCampaigns the engine for campaigns, schedules, queues and batches, and NewsletterConsole the operational dashboard, with an email event layer tracking opens, clicks and delivery statuses. In the company's words, "Instead of one all-in-one tool, the store gets a system that can be developed in stages, but in the target setup works like its own email marketing platform."

Signup forms and consent

NewsletterFrontend provides forms, widgets and a newsletter popup on the store frontend, with Page Builder integration and settings for form content, visual variants, layout, consent checkboxes and the unsubscribe link. Subscription becomes part of the store's own funnel, managed from the same admin panel as the rest of the store's communication.

NewsletterCapture supports double opt-in, a configurable confirmation token lifetime and tokenized campaign unsubscribes. NewsletterAudience stores consent history, consent source, IP address and additional proof data, so the store keeps a record of how and when each subscriber agreed to receive email.

Lists, segments and audience

NewsletterAudience extends Magento's native subscribers with subscriber metadata, acquisition source, acquisition channel, mailing lists, dynamic segments, bulk operations and CSV export. Campaigns can combine manual lists with dynamic segments, and the article says the system "even shows audience estimates and a breakdown of how many recipients come from lists, how many from segments, and where overlap occurs." The company calls this "a real audience management layer" rather than a table of addresses.

Building email content

EmailTemplateStudio works from native Magento newsletter templates and adds "a builder based on GrapesJS and MJML." Marketers can pick products from the catalog for a mailing section, use ready-made product layouts, compile the design to email-safe HTML and preview the result before it goes into a campaign. Because content is built in the Magento context from store products, nobody has to prepare a newsletter in one tool, paste it into another and then check whether the HTML survives email clients.

Campaigns, scheduling and sending

NewsletterCampaigns goes beyond a send-now button. Campaigns are assigned to a store view and support a test send, loading content from a native Magento template, assigning lists and segments, "scheduling for a specific date and time," building the recipient queue, publishing batches, pausing and resuming, UTM parameters, and a cron job and consumer for asynchronous sending. A campaign becomes a controlled process that can be scheduled, queued and monitored rather than one heavy operation fired from the admin panel.

Sending goes through whatever transport the store configures. The article is clear that "the cost of the sending channel itself does not disappear. You still need to send the message through SMTP or another provider." EmailTransport and EmailSmtp let the store define sending accounts and fallbacks, and routing can be tied to a particular store.

Tracking and dashboard

The logs and events layer records sending logs, message statuses, opens, clicks, bounces, complaints, sending errors and summaries by message type. NewsletterConsole shows the number of sends from today, sending errors, active campaigns, new subscriptions, pending batches, open rate and click rate, recent sends and recent email event errors. Results come back to the same panel where the campaign was built.

Multiple stores and languages

The suite follows Magento's store view model. Campaigns are assigned to a store view, many settings work in store scope, transport routing and sending accounts can be tied to a store, and frontend forms have per-store-view configuration. Lists can divide the database "by languages, countries, or markets," segments split recipients dynamically, and content, consents and messages can be kept per store. The article gives the example of separate campaigns, content, consents and audiences for Polish, German and Czech store views, all run from one system. It also notes that this "does not mean automatic campaign translation."

Cost model

Kowal's argument is that a store stops paying a SaaS provider for contact database size, panel users, add-on modules, connectors and separate builders, and pays only for email delivery through its chosen SMTP server or provider. The article says that for brands with a larger database, more frequent sends and several people working on campaigns, "this can mean very clear monthly and yearly savings."

The article does not print a price for the suite or its three packages. Kowal's home page lists other Magento 2 modules with individual prices, including an AI Email Template Generator for Magento 2 at 123,00 zł, and says projects can be billed as a fixed price, time and materials, an hours package, a subscription, in stages, or as a module license with implementation.

Who it suits and who it does not

Kowal Newsletter Suite fits retailers already committed to Magento 2 who want email operations inside the store rather than in an external ESP. It is strongest for stores with several store views across countries or languages, since lists, forms, consents and campaigns follow the same store structure, and for stores that want consent records, subscriber data and campaign results kept in their own Magento database.

It is not for businesses outside Magento, and it is not a quick setup. Deploying modules, configuring cron and consumers, and maintaining an SMTP server or provider account all need someone technical, whether an in-house developer or an agency that already looks after the store. Kowal itself offers implementation, Magento hosting including mail servers, and ongoing technical care, which fills that gap for merchants without their own team. Stores that want fully hands-off email with no infrastructure to manage will find an external platform simpler.
