What DoubleScale is
DoubleScale is a self-hosted CRM plugin for WordPress that sends email campaigns, automated sequences, SMS and WhatsApp messages from inside wp-admin. Its home page describes it as one modular plugin that brings contacts, sales pipelines, email, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, booking, invoices and support tickets together, "running inside wp-admin, on your own database." The footer names the company behind it as QuillX LTD, registered in London.
The self-hosted part is the point. The FAQ says DoubleScale is 100% self-hosted and that "your data never leaves your server": contacts, campaigns and pipeline data sit in your WordPress database. It is aimed at WordPress site owners, shops and small teams who want their email marketing and their CRM in the same place as their website, with no per-contact bill.
Email campaigns and sequences
The marketing side has four parts on the features menu: an email builder for designing templates, standard email campaigns for bulk broadcasts, automated campaigns that fire on triggers, and email sequences for automated follow-up series. The home page says you can personalize emails, watch engagement in real-time analytics and optimize campaigns from the same screen where you manage contacts. Contacts can be segmented and emailed, texted or put into automations from store activity.
Two AI helpers sit on top of the editor. The site says DoubleScale drafts subject lines and body copy with AI so you do not start from a blank page, and uses AI to turn simple inputs into structured templates. An MCP server connects the CRM to an AI model of your choice.
Sending runs through an SMTP provider you configure. DoubleScale has its own SMTP module, listed on the comparison page as SMTP email routing for more than 20 providers, and a bulk sending engine that the site says sends thousands of emails at the same time through those providers rather than one by one. There is no DoubleScale sending cap: the FAQ says the plugin does not limit contacts, campaigns or pipelines by plan, and "you can store unlimited contacts and send as many emails as your SMTP provider allows." Your real sending limit is the one your SMTP provider sets.
The database design is a selling point the site explains at length. DoubleScale stores each campaign template once and logs every send by reference, so the log does not grow with the size of the email, and a sent campaign's template is locked so tracking stays accurate. The site lists the practical effects as faster queries, smaller backups and no need for hosting upgrades. The feature table also lists email bounce handling, and the analytics section tracks opens and clicks as they happen.
SMS, WhatsApp and the inbox
Beyond email, DoubleScale sends SMS campaigns and WhatsApp messages. WhatsApp runs through the Meta API, and the FAQ says you can message contacts and trigger automations from WordPress. The WhatsApp section talks about automating client journeys and triggering workflows instantly. A MailBox module manages email inside the CRM, and the feature table lists a unified multi-channel inbox, so replies across channels land in one place.
Contacts, scoring and tracking
Each contact has a 360° view that gathers contact details and engagement in one record. Lead scoring ranks leads so the most promising come first, and website tracking records visitor behavior. Tasks can be assigned to team members. For shops, one WordPress.org review on the home page points out that DoubleScale captures the email address and phone number at checkout before the customer submits the order, which the reviewer uses to recover abandoned carts.
Integrations
The integrations menu is long and all WordPress-native. Form plugins: Quill Forms, Contact Form 7, Elementor, Fluent Forms, Formidable Forms, Forminator Forms, Gravity Forms, MetForm, Ninja Forms, WPForms, Sure Forms, Bit Forms, WS Forms, Jotform, Typeform, JetFormBuilder and eForm. The comparison page counts more than 15 form plugin integrations. E-commerce: WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads and SureCart. The FAQ says WooCommerce customers and orders sync into CRM contacts, so you can segment and automate from store activity without a separate e-commerce CRM, and the feature table lists an advanced WooCommerce integration. LMS: LearnDash, LearnPress, LifterLMS and Tutor LMS, for tracking students and enrollments. Membership: MemberPress and Paid Memberships Pro. Presto Player is listed under other integrations.
A migration tool under Settings imports contacts from FluentCRM and creates matching lists, tags and custom fields. The site says the move takes under 60 seconds and that nothing leaves your WordPress server during it.
Sales, billing and support
DoubleScale goes well past email. Pipelines track leads through stages, with deal values, assignments and revenue forecasts, and a sales rep dashboard. The sales workspace, included in every paid plan, covers proposals, invoices, payment gateways, contracts, credit notes, projects and a client portal: you send a branded proposal, track views and acceptance, turn it into an invoice, and let the client pay online through the portal. Projects run on Kanban boards linked to contacts, deals and invoices. A booking calendar handles appointments, and a helpdesk lets customers open and reply to tickets on your site, with internal notes hidden from them.
There is also a mobile app for iOS and Android, which the comparison page says gives access to contacts, deals and tasks on the go.
Performance on your site
A common worry with a CRM inside WordPress is speed. The FAQ answers that DoubleScale stores its data in its own database tables, separate from your post content, and that the admin app is a single-page interface, so the public website does not load the CRM on every visit.
Pricing
The plugin has a free version on WordPress.org, and the Pro plans are billed per year by the number of sites, never by contacts or seats. The home page lists:
- Basic at $99 a year: a license for 1 website, the full sales workspace and general support.
- Plus at $199 a year: up to 5 websites, the sales workspace and premium support.
- Enterprise at $399 a year: up to 25 websites, the sales workspace, a white labeling add-on and priority support.
Every plan comes with unlimited contacts and unlimited seats, and the home page repeats "no per-contact fees" and "no monthly fees." A Lifetime Deal tab sits next to the yearly prices, and the FAQ confirms lifetime licenses are listed on the pricing page. The comparison page says paid plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. Before buying you can try a free live demo on doublescale.io, with no signup or credit card, that covers the email builder, automations and pipeline.
Support and community
Resources on the site include documentation, a get started guide and a Facebook Group for community support. A question form on the home page files questions under integrations, campaigns, billing, reports or feature requests. The home page shows a 5.0 rating on WordPress.org, and the reviews quoted there praise quick, responsive support and a plugin that keeps improving.
Who it suits
DoubleScale suits WordPress businesses that want email, SMS and WhatsApp marketing tied to a real CRM, with pipelines, invoicing, booking and a helpdesk, and that would rather own their data and pay a flat yearly fee per site than a monthly bill that rises with every contact. WooCommerce stores, course sites on the LMS integrations and membership sites get the most from the native integrations, and agencies can cover up to 25 sites on the Enterprise plan with white labeling. The caveats come with the model: you need a WordPress site to run it, you arrange and pay for an SMTP provider yourself, and deliverability depends on that provider and on how you set up your own server.
