OutboundEngine

Tap a star to rate

OutboundEngine is a done-for-you marketing platform for small businesses, and real estate agents and brokers are one of its main audiences. Its email offer is unusual: instead of handing an agent an editor, its writers and designers produce the newsletters and the company sends them, on the real estate tour page's promise of "tested and proven newsletters twice a month". Around the email sit automatic social media posting, a customized website that captures leads, IDX listings, reviews, referrals, live chat and a mobile app for follow-up. The real estate page says "10,000 customers and counting", and the site footer describes OutboundEngine as "a proud member of Elm Street Technology's industry-leading suite of solutions", alongside sister products IDX Broker, IXACT Contact, VoicePad and Aiva.

What a sender actually gets

Email newsletters written for you. The real estate page is direct about the model: "Don't waste your time configuring email templates, researching the latest marketing tips and ideas, or split-testing campaigns for optimization." While the agent is out showing properties, OutboundEngine will "write, design and send" the newsletters, with articles such as "4 Home Projects That Add Instant Value" and "Home-Staging Tips From the Pros". The stated aim is to "nurture your network so you can close more sales and generate more leads from your network". Elsewhere the same page says "Our email experts create and send beautiful, high-engagement campaigns that keep you top of mind with your contacts." The home page sums up the whole approach: "We don't just give you a tool; we take marketing off your plate completely."

This matters for a buyer comparing email tools. The agent is not expected to build campaigns at all, so the service stands or falls on the quality of the content and the follow-up it produces, not on editor features. What the agent supplies is the contact list, the people "who know you best", in the page's framing, and the source of repeat business and referrals.

Engagement follow-up. The home page's "Follow up with your highest-potential prospects" section says an agent can "See who's engaging with your content and respond instantly with custom response templates and our mobile app." A Dashboard feature sits under the "Grow Your Business" heading with Live Chat and the Mobile App, so engagement from newsletters feeds a list of people worth calling.

Social media. OutboundEngine automatically posts "relevant and interesting content" to a business's social profiles. For real estate the examples are "World's Greenest Architecture" and "America's Greatest Estates", meant to keep an agent's pages "looking fresh". The site's feature list also includes Social Ads.

Website and listings. The company builds "a mobile-friendly, customized business webpage that showcases your expertise, highlights your contact information, and even captures leads for you." Listings Pro adds "IDX Listings and Property Search" so an agent can show properties on that site.

Referrals and reviews. Under "Attract New Customers" the site lists Referrals and Review Management, and the home page promises to surface the most promising opportunities in an agent's existing network.

Industries and brokerages

Real estate is one of several business categories. The main menu names Financial Advisors, Insurance, Wellness, Home Services, Mortgage and Real Estate, and the site has further industry pages for automotive, beauty and spa, legal, pet services, promotional products and travel. For real estate there is a separate path for brokers ("Are you a broker? Click here."), a Group Accounts page and a Recruiting Marketing feature, which point at brokerages running the service for several agents. The site also carries dedicated pages for Remax and BHHS agents and brokers.

The company's blog shows the same done-for-you pitch for other trades. A post on email marketing for insurance agents gives advice on non-sales content, seasonal topics and referral contests, and closes by offering to "put your email marketing on autopilot for you too."

Compliance

Compliance is where the service is most specific for regulated professions. The real estate page says: "Everything we craft for you is editorial in nature. We comply with can-spam laws and state real estate commissions to ensure you're in compliance with the rulings that effect you and your business." The feature menu has separate compliance pages for financial advisors, insurance, legal and mortgage, so an agent in a regulated field gets content written with those rules in mind rather than having to vet each newsletter.

Pricing

The home page calls OutboundEngine "everything you need to grow, in one affordable package" that lets a business "Build your brand, fill your pipeline and generate new business effortlessly", but neither the home page nor the real estate tour prints a price. Both steer visitors to "Get the Demo" and "Schedule a personalized demo". The site has a separate pricing page and a sign-up page.

Support and company

Sales answers on (800) 562-7315 and customer support on (888) 988-5526. The home page promises "Reliable support, every step of the way", with a dedicated support team for "guidance, troubleshooting, or tips for success". The support section includes a knowledgebase, FAQs, best practices, a goal-setting guide and a customer success portal, and the resources section carries marketing benchmark reports for real estate, insurance, mortgage and financial services.

The careers section recruits for Austin, describing "an established, profitable and successful software company with a startup mindset, named by the Financial Times as one of the fastest growing in North America in 2020", and offers relocation help for staff moving there.

Customers quoted on the site include Cyndi Alvarez, a REALTOR, who says OutboundEngine "has saved me a lot of time and a lot of money", and Marlow M. of Marlow's Fitness, who credits it with freeing up time "to easily reach new audiences."

Who it suits and who it does not

OutboundEngine suits a real estate agent, loan officer, insurance agent or financial advisor who knows email keeps past clients sending referrals but will never sit down to write a newsletter. The agent hands over the contact list, the company writes and sends two newsletters a month plus social posts, and the agent watches the dashboard for who is engaging. A brokerage wanting the same for a group of agents has a broker route and group accounts.

It does not suit anyone who wants to write their own campaigns, design emails, build automations or run tests: the page itself tells agents not to waste time configuring templates or split-testing. A developer, an online shop or a newsletter publisher needs a conventional email platform instead, and a buyer who needs a price before a sales call will have to book the demo.
