Alura

Tap a star to rate

Alura is an all-in-one software platform for Etsy sellers, and Email Sender is its email marketing module. It sends two kinds of mail on a shop's behalf: order-related transactional emails and marketing campaigns to customers who have signed up for the shop's list, plus automations that run on their own once switched on. The feature page calls it "Tailor made for Etsy": Email Sender connects to the seller's Etsy shop, so messages can be triggered by what customers do and personalized with their details. The rest of Alura covers keyword and product research, listing optimization, Pinterest and Etsy Ads automation, and shop analytics, and the email tool sits inside that same dashboard.

What a sender gets

The editor and templates. Emails are built in a drag-and-drop editor with fully customizable templates, and the FAQ says no coding or email marketing experience is needed. Alura applies the shop's logo, products and store colors to the templates automatically, so a new sender starts from something that already looks like the shop. From there each template can be changed with custom layouts, text, buttons, images, personalized text and products, and the FAQ confirms that any template lets you add, move and edit sections of content. Smart tags drop customer details into the copy so each recipient gets a message addressed to them. Before a send, a preview shows how the email will look in customers' inboxes.

Automation. The page describes marketing automations built for Etsy that are "always on": the seller turns them on and lets them run instead of building the same campaign by hand each time. They are meant to reach customers at critical moments in their journey, "from subscribing to your newsletter to placing their first order", and to send dynamic content based on each customer's activity. Alura's own marketing line on this is that sellers can "Receive up to 4x more orders with event-driven emails"; that is the company's claim, not a figure we have tested.

Transactional emails. The help center explains how Email Sender splits order mail from marketing. What it calls "Transactional emails" are limited to a maximum of four specific messages per purchase, the four named in the Etsy seller handbook: order confirmation, order shipped, order delivered, and a review request. Everything else is a subscriber campaign, which only goes to people who have opted in to the list.

Building the list. Because Etsy does not allow marketing email without a customer's consent, list growth runs through a dedicated signup page. The help center says Alura gives each seller "a dedicated and customizable page for customers to signup to your email list". Every email carries an unsubscribe link.

List hygiene. The FAQ describes what happens when someone leaves. A subscriber who clicks Unsubscribe is redirected to the seller's store and shown a confirmation message. A subscriber who marks an email as spam is removed from the list, and any address that bounces is suppressed from all further sends. The seller does not have to clean these out by hand.

Reporting. Email Sender reports on email engagement, sales, open rates and more from the Alura dashboard, covering both campaigns and automations. The page frames it as a loop: send, look at the results, then try new designs, offers or messaging on the next campaign. The help center adds that Alura has "integrated all the metrics you need" into the product rather than sending sellers to a separate analytics tool.

The rest of the Alura platform

Email is one of several tools under one login. The research side covers keyword research for Etsy search, product research that analyzes best-sellers, competitor research on successful shops, and a Chrome extension that brings product insights and AI tools onto Etsy itself. The marketing side adds automatic pinning of listings to Pinterest and Etsy Ads management that aims to cut wasted ad spend. Operations tools include listing recommendations based on Etsy's seller handbook, A/B tests on images, titles and prices, customer followup messages for reviews and repeat sales, an AI customer support assistant a seller trains to answer customer messages, and shop analytics that show profit and Etsy fees. Free tools on the site include an Etsy fee calculator, a privacy policy generator, a shop name generator and lists of top Etsy sellers and listings.

For an email buyer, the practical point is that customer data, order events and campaign results all live in the same account as the seller's listings and ads, which is the argument Alura makes for using its email tool over a separate one.

Pricing and plans

The Email Sender FAQ explains the pricing model rather than listing tiers. "All Alura users have included free emails to send." Beyond that, cost is calculated by "people reached": the individual people who received at least one email from one of your shops in the last 30 days. Within that count, sending is unlimited: "You can send unlimited emails to people you reached per month." The company's argument is that you "only pay for the value you get", since a subscriber you did not email that month does not count.

The FAQ refers readers to the separate pricing page for the actual numbers. The home page invites sellers to "Start with a free account and explore all the features", and the Email Sender page says "It's free to get started." The Email Sender page itself publishes no prices, so a seller planning a year of sending should check the pricing page for the cost per person reached.

Compliance and Etsy's rules

Alura builds its email product around Etsy's policies, and the help center article on the subject is a summary of the Etsy seller handbook. It says Etsy allows sellers to communicate with customers about specific orders, describes a transactional email as one sent to an individual recipient following a commercial transaction, which businesses are allowed to send under the CAN-SPAM Act, and says marketing email needs the customer's consent. From there the company states that "Alura only sends emails that comply with Etsy's policies": every email is either about a specific order or goes to someone who signed up. The same article passes on Etsy's cautions against messaging customers too often and against demanding feedback. A related article covers "Understanding the Impact of Etsy's Recent Policy Changes on Email Sender".

Support and company

Help comes through a help center of step-by-step guides, with articles on Etsy email best practices and on transactional versus subscriber campaigns, plus a contact page, a blog and seller interviews. The home page shows a 4.8 rating and says Alura is "Trusted by 800,023+ Etsy sellers", while another line on the same page gives 600,000+.

Who it suits

Email Sender suits Etsy sellers who want email without setting up a separate tool: a solo maker who needs order confirmations, shipping updates and review requests to go out automatically, or a growing shop that wants a newsletter to past buyers with its own branding applied from day one. Sellers already paying for Alura's research or listing tools get email in the same account. It is built entirely around the Etsy shop connection and Etsy's rules, so it is not a general-purpose email platform; a brand whose customers and orders live outside Etsy will find no connection for its store described on the site. The four-email cap on order mail is also fixed by design, so a seller wanting longer post-purchase sequences would build them as subscriber campaigns to opted-in customers.
