Dotdigital is a cross-channel marketing automation platform that sends email campaigns and automated journeys alongside SMS, WhatsApp, web and push messages, with loyalty programs and a Communications API in the same product family. Its tagline is "AI at work. Human at heart." The footer states that Dotdigital is a trading name of dotdigital EMEA Limited, with its registered office at No. 1 London Bridge, London. The company page claims "25+ years of experience" and "4000+ amazing customers", and says organizations "of all sizes, from all industries, across the world use Dotdigital", naming sectors such as commerce, charity, education, travel, media and sports clubs. Commerce is where much of the product detail sits, with dedicated integrations for Shopify, Adobe Commerce and others.

What a sender gets

The email editor. The email page promises you can "Build, edit, and send in minutes with templates, an easy-to-use editor, and AI that helps you move faster." Campaigns are built in a drag-and-drop editor with audience segmentation and personalized messaging, "without writing any code". Dynamic content blocks show each subscriber "the most relevant content, products, and offers automatically", and countdown timers, social proof and personalized incentives are available as blocks. With one click, an email campaign can be converted to SMS.

Automation. The drag-and-drop automation builder means "your automations can be as simple or as complex as you choose", with "ready-made, fully customizable templates across every stage of the customer journey". The FAQ names welcome journeys, cart abandonment, browse triggers, birthday reminders, post-purchase follow-ups, win-backs, back-in-stock and replenishment reminders, all adapting to behavior in real time. The same section says AI picks the send time for each contact and that ongoing A/B testing improves results automatically.

AI features. The FAQ lists "subject line suggestions, send time optimization, content generation, and predictive segmentation". Two named agents carry most of it. The Segment Agent lets a marketer "Describe the audience you need, in your own words", after which "The agent builds the segment without the need for filter logic, data teams, or spreadsheet wrestling." The Content Agent writes on-brand messaging for any channel from a description of what to say, who it is for and where it is going. Dotdigital also offers a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets a customer's own AI tool read Dotdigital data, check results or add leads to a list from a chat.

Channels. Journeys run "across email, SMS, WhatsApp, web, and push" from one platform, and the home page adds social media. Loyalty programs sit in the same system, described as "The loyalty platform that lives where your marketing does". Dotdigital's own benchmark reports quote click-through rates for WhatsApp and SMS marketing messages.

Transactional messages. For stores, the Shopify page says Dotdigital can "Automate branded transactional messages on email and SMS, like order confirmations and delivery updates". The Adobe Commerce page adds that transactional confirmation emails can be triggered from store data.

Reporting and segmentation. Stores get "advanced revenue reporting and detailed analytics" and "real-time enhanced recency, frequency, and monetary (eRFM) segments", so a marketer can see which customers are slipping and act on it.

Deliverability

The FAQ answers the question directly: Dotdigital protects deliverability "With dedicated IPs, domain authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), ISP relationships, and an onboarding team to help you warm up domains and maintain best practices." It states "Our customers see a delivery rate benchmark of 99%." That is the company's own figure.

Integrations

The home page says Dotdigital "has over 200 integrations", from CRMs to commerce platforms. The email FAQ names Shopify, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Salesforce, HubSpot and Microsoft Dynamics, "and hundreds more".

Shopify. Stores connect "with one click via the Shopify App Store" and sync data in real time, then trigger automated campaigns for abandoned carts, product browsing, back-in-stock alerts and price drops. The integration handles multiple stores, languages and account types (B2B and B2C) and is "Trusted by more than 1,500 accounts", with support from in-house experts who work with thousands of Shopify brands.

Adobe Commerce and Magento. The integration brings in orders, products and behavior and "only takes seconds to set up". The page says over 750 customers use it, that Dotdigital is an Adobe Gold partner, that the integration has "been constantly improved for over 15 years", and that Dotdigital was "the first non-Adobe product approved by Adobe's App Assurance Program".

Trustpilot. Review requests go out across email and SMS journeys, review data feeds segments, negative reviews are routed to the right team and held back from promotional messaging, and reviews can be dragged into emails, forms and landing pages. Activation runs through a self-service integration hub.

Pricing

No price list is published. The company FAQ says: "We don't believe in paying for things you don't use, so we carefully tailor pricing for every customer." One factor it names is "How many marketable contacts are in your database", and it asks prospects to "Book a call to get an accurate quote based on your requirements." A tailored demo is available on request.

Support and company

Support is described as "24/7 live chat support, dedicated onboarding, your own CSM, and access to experts on all aspects of marketing." Customers get a quarterly What's New summary, a public roadmap open to feedback, events, and a resources library. The partner network counts "over 1000 partners worldwide". The email page says it is "ranked #1 for email marketing by G2". On sustainability, the company calls itself "the world's first carbon-neutral marketing automation platform", says it has held ISO 14001 certification since January 2021, runs on infrastructure powered by 100% renewable energy, and aims for net zero by 2030. Case studies on the home page include Dreams, Goodwood, which increased ticket sales with the built-in AI tools, Parcelhero, Wallace Cotton and Millie's Cookies, and one CRM program run through Dotdigital is said to return "more than 10 times what's invested in it". A customer quoted on the email page says: "By using Dotdigital we've improved some of our email lead-generating efforts by 400%."

Who it suits

Dotdigital suits retailers and brands with a real marketing team that want email, SMS, WhatsApp, loyalty and web personalization under one contract, especially on Shopify or Adobe Commerce, where the integrations are deep and long-established. The 24/7 support and dedicated CSM make it a fit for teams that want hands-on help. A solo creator or a very small shop will find a quote-based, contact-priced platform heavier than it needs, and a developer who only wants to send transactional mail from an app should ask about the separate Communications API product listed on the site rather than the marketing suite.
