What Ungapped is

Ungapped is a Swedish digital communications platform for email newsletters, email campaigns, SMS, surveys and event invitations, with marketing automation tying them together. The company says its head office is in Stockholm, that all of its employees speak Swedish, and that customer data is stored in Sweden. Its home page says Ungapped has been around for twenty years and calls it "ledande i branschen" (leading in the industry), and it claims thousands of satisfied users. Ungapped is part of Liana Technologies, which the site says belongs to the Finnish listed company Ilkka-Yhtymä Group.

The platform is aimed at organizations that communicate with members, customers, students or citizens, not only at online shops. The site names its focus sectors: member organizations, construction and property companies, schools and universities, the public sector, public housing, and banking and insurance. It says it works with many Swedish municipalities, regions and government agencies that run both internal and external communication through Ungapped, and with a number of universities, schools and education companies.

Building and sending email

Email is the core of the product. A sender starts from Ungapped's ready-made email templates and its image bank, or builds templates around the organization's own graphic profile. The newsletter page says the template library holds a broad range of newsletter templates that can be adapted freely, and that Ungapped can also build a custom template for a brand. The editor is drag and drop with many content blocks, and a newsletter can carry video, polls and content pulled from an RSS feed.

The feature list on the email and newsletter pages covers the practical side of sending:

  • responsive templates ("100 % responsivt")
  • personalization fields inserted into the message
  • content shared with other users and other accounts
  • Google Fonts
  • previews for desktop, mobile and tablet
  • A/B tests of subject lines
  • test sends and scheduled sending
  • automatic quality checks before a send
  • detailed statistics, a statistics report and Google Analytics tracking
  • sharing to social media
  • content generated automatically from an RSS feed
  • your own domain as the sender, and the option to send from your own IP number

Recipient lists stay up to date automatically, according to the site, and mailings can be segmented so each recipient gets relevant content without extra manual work. A newsletter signup form can be placed on the organization's own website, and new subscribers can get an automated welcome email and an automated welcome SMS. The use cases the site lists include newsletters, email campaigns and transactional emails, alongside customer surveys, employee surveys, web forms, evaluations, SMS campaigns and invitations.

Automation, SMS, surveys and events

Marketing automation is sold as its own part of the platform. The site describes automated flows that keep marketing running on its own and stop leads from going cold ("Låt inga leads svalna"), and it offers help from its own experts to set such flows up.

SMS runs from the same account. Ungapped presents it as a way to build effective campaigns and reach a target audience quickly, and the automated welcome SMS links it to the email signup flow. The site keeps separate manuals for newsletters, SMS and surveys.

The survey tool handles customer surveys, employee surveys and evaluations, and the forms it produces can be used externally or internally. Event management covers invitations and follow-up, with the stated aim of building engagement before, during and after an event. The platform menu also lists media monitoring (Mediebevakning) and add-on services. The home page sums up the idea as handling events, email marketing, SMS campaigns and surveys in one place.

Ungapped also has an AI assistant. The home page says it is built into the platform's text editor and image bank, so AI-generated content can be created directly inside Ungapped to produce material faster.

Plans and prices

Ungapped charges per contact ("du betalar per kontakt") and lists three plans in Swedish kronor. The newsletter page notes that the Basic and Pro prices shown apply to up to 1000 contacts.

  • Basic, from 349 SEK per month: one user, basic features for creating and sending campaigns, basic analytics and follow-up, and support by email. The newsletter page adds up to 20K emails a month and up to 20K contacts.
  • Pro, from 749 SEK per month: unlimited users, all features for creating and sending email, advanced analytics and follow-up, Google Analytics integration, support by phone and email, and the option to integrate with other systems. The newsletter page lists unlimited emails per month and unlimited contacts.
  • Enterprise, sold through sales: everything in Pro plus custom integrations, a named Customer Success Manager, tailored training, and own domains and IP addresses. The email marketing page lists it from 2,249 SEK per month, while the newsletter page lists it from 5,249 SEK per month and adds permissions and roles, single sign-on or BankID, advanced segmentation, consolidated statistics and reports, language handling for surveys, premium sending servers, and customer-specific agreements or integrations.

Basic and Pro both start with a trial period, and the home page offers a month of free testing without obligation ("Testa en månad gratis"). There is no free plan; the trial is how a new customer tries the tool.

Integrations and services

Ungapped says it integrates with Pipedrive, Dynamics, Salesforce, Mediaflow and other popular systems, and it has an integrations and API section. Integration with other systems is part of Pro, and custom integrations come with Enterprise.

Around the software, Ungapped sells services: strategic consulting and hands-on help with individual activities, training courses that teach teams to use the platform, a startup package (Uppstartspaket) for new customers, and a partner program. The email marketing page frames this as access to email marketing experts on top of the tool, and says the team knows the Swedish market well.

Support, language and data

Support is in Swedish, and the site says it is also offered in English. It runs by email, chat and phone, although the plan list gives Basic email support and Pro phone and email support. The site itself can be switched to Danish, English, Norwegian and French.

Data storage in Sweden is a headline point. The home page says keeping data in Sweden gives high security, fast access and safe handling of personal data under the applicable data protection rules, and that the customer keeps control of its data without it leaving the country. The site also keeps a dedicated GDPR section. One customer quoted on the home page, the agency Whippy, says it presents Ungapped when a client requires Swedish data storage.

The home page also says Ungapped is the only Swedish digital communications platform with a collective agreement (kollektivavtal), a point it makes to member organizations. Other customer quotes there include Byggföretagen calling Ungapped "det mest prisvärda alternativet" (the most affordable option), Chalmers alumni relations praising how easy the tool is to learn, and Avtalat singling out the statistics function that helps it follow up its mailings.

Who it suits

Ungapped fits Swedish organizations that want email, SMS, surveys and events in one tool, with Swedish-speaking support and data kept in Sweden. Member organizations, municipalities and agencies, schools and universities, housing and property companies, and banks and insurers are the sectors it names, and its collective agreement and data storage are pitched straight at them. The per-contact pricing starts with a single user on Basic, while Pro opens up unlimited users, unlimited sending and phone support for a communications team. Organizations that need roles and permissions, single sign-on or BankID, premium sending servers or a named success manager are the Enterprise buyers. A team working mainly in English can get English support, though the pricing and product pages are written in Swedish.
