Taildove

Tap a star to rate

Taildove is an email platform for businesses that send campaigns, lifecycle email and customer communication, sold at flat monthly rates rather than priced per contact. Its tagline is "Send. Automate. Deliver.", and the site describes it as email software that "treats deliverability and sender reputation as core infrastructure, at simple flat rates." The solutions it lists are marketing email, customer communication, lifecycle automation, B2B email and email for SaaS, which says a good deal about the intended buyer: a company emailing customers and prospects, not a creator selling digital products. Campaigns, automated workflows, audience management, deliverability monitoring and analytics sit in one product, with an email API and bulk sending listed alongside for developers.

What you build and send

A campaign in Taildove is a focused, one-off email to an audience segment: a newsletter, an announcement or a product update. The flow runs in four steps. You pick a group or a segment you have already built and see the list size before sending, write the subject line and content and add links, preview how the message renders, and then send immediately or schedule it for a time that suits the audience.

A/B testing is part of the campaign tool, and the homepage plan table marks it as included on every plan. You send different versions of a subject line or email body to a small part of the audience, and the better performer goes to the rest. The campaigns page says winners "are chosen from real engagement data".

Automation handles the follow-up. Workflows fire on timing, events and reader behavior, and the site's example workflow runs from a trigger to an email, then a wait, then a condition: a contact who opened continues the sequence, while one who did not gets a reminder later. Taildove's point is that the next message goes out "only when the reader behaves." Onboarding and re-engagement sequences are built this way, and the analytics page shows these workflows side by side with one-off campaigns.

Audience and segmentation

The audience tool follows a capture, organize, segment, communicate cycle. Contacts come in three ways: a CSV import, an embedded signup form, or the API. On a CSV upload Taildove removes duplicates, validates addresses and skips invalid ones, so the list starts clean without manual cleanup, and the site says contacts should move over "in minutes, not weeks."

Contacts are organized with tags, custom fields and groups. Segments are built with AND/OR conditions on fields, tags, groups and engagement history, and they update as contacts change, so a segment built once keeps matching the people it describes. The examples on the audience page give a sense of the intended use: active agency accounts, trial users whose trial is about to end, and high-value customers who have stopped opening. Basic segmentation comes with Starter; advanced segmentation starts on Pro.

Deliverability and analytics

Deliverability is the part of the product Taildove talks about most. Every campaign goes out from your own verified sending domains, and bounces, complaints and deliverability are tracked automatically. SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup is included on all plans, and the site says Taildove sets these up and monitors them automatically. The homepage shows a live domain health readout with delivered rate, opens, bounce rate, complaint rate, SPF/DKIM and DMARC status and a sending reputation score, and notes that a borderline complaint rate is "flagged for review, not hidden." It also claims a 98.7% average delivered rate across Taildove accounts. Bounce suppression and analytics are on every plan, while Pro adds domain health monitoring, cold contact re-engagement and a weekly deliverability digest.

Analytics cover delivery, opens, clicks, bounces, complaints and unsubscribes across every campaign and workflow in one dashboard. Link click tracking shows what drives response, and the bounce, complaint and unsubscribe figures are there to surface trends before they damage your reputation. The homepage says every metric is shown plain, "including the ones you'd rather ignore." Two tools sit beside the product in the site menu, a Deliverability Checker and a Subject Analyzer.

One testimonial on the homepage comes from the operations lead at a 40-person agency who moved a list of 18,000 without changing the copy: "Bounces fell from 1.7% to 0.2% in six weeks, and the dashboard showed where each complaint came from before the next campaign shipped."

Plans and pricing

The pricing page promises "Flat rates. No per-contact pricing surprises." There are three self-serve plans and a custom tier. The homepage lists the three at $29, $59 and $119 per month; on annual billing, which the pricing page describes as one month free, they come to $27, $54 and $109 a month.

Starter, "Perfect if you're just starting out or have one main audience," covers 25,000 emails a month and up to 2,500 contacts. It includes campaigns and tags, basic segmentation, bounce suppression and analytics, API access and email support, and the homepage table gives it one automation workflow.

Pro, marked most popular, raises the allowance to 75,000 emails a month with unlimited contacts and unlimited workflows. It adds advanced segmentation, domain health monitoring, cold contact re-engagement, the weekly deliverability digest, outbound webhooks and priority support.

Business is aimed at high-volume senders. It covers 250,000 emails a month with unlimited contacts, advanced segmentation, domain health monitoring and outbound webhooks, and adds priority support with an SLA.

The Custom tier, "For enterprise, agencies, and high-volume senders," is priced through the sales team. It brings unlimited email sending, a dedicated IP address, unlimited contacts and domains, API access and a custom SLA with an uptime guarantee. The dedicated IP appears only here; the comparison table marks it as unavailable on Starter, Pro and Business.

Every plan allows multiple workspaces, with a subscription per workspace, which matters for an agency running several brands or clients: each workspace is paid for separately. There is no free plan. Instead, every plan starts with a 7-day free trial with no credit card required.

Developers and support

API access is on every plan, and the product menu lists an email API, bulk sending and a developers section, with documentation, guides and an events and webhooks reference under resources. Outbound webhooks, which push events to your own systems, start on the Pro plan. Support runs by email on Starter, priority on Pro, priority with an SLA on Business and dedicated support on Custom. The footer gives hello@taildove.com as the support address.

Who it suits

Taildove fits B2B companies and SaaS teams whose email is campaigns, segmentation and lifecycle automation, and who want a bill that does not rise with the contact count. A SaaS team sending onboarding sequences, trial reminders and win-back mail gets behavior-triggered workflows and one dashboard for campaigns and automations. A marketing team at a growing B2B company that watches bounce and complaint rates closely will find the deliverability monitoring on Pro the main draw, since it turns authentication and reputation into numbers you can check before the next send. Agencies can separate clients into workspaces, though each workspace carries its own subscription, and the Custom tier names agencies among its audience.

It suits a solo newsletter writer less well. Starter caps contacts at 2,500 and allows a single automation workflow, and with no free plan a small list starts paying once the trial ends. A sender who needs a dedicated IP has to move to the Custom tier.
