Swiss Newsletter
Tap a star to rate
Swiss Newsletter is an online newsletter tool for Swiss businesses and organizations, run by mailXpert GmbH at Schulstrasse 37 in Zurich. Its headline is "E-Mail-Marketing aus der Schweiz für die Schweiz" (email marketing from Switzerland for Switzerland), and it promises a simple way to reach customers "Direkt, schnell, präzise" (directly, quickly, precisely). You build newsletters online in a few clicks, send them to your own contact lists and follow the results live. The homepage rests on three promises: easy newsletter software, data security ("Ihre Kunden-Adressen bleiben wo sie sind: in der Schweiz", your customers' addresses stay where they are, in Switzerland), and deliverability backed by a CSA certification. The site is in German, and anyone can create a free account from the header and test the tool "kostenlos und unverbindlich" (free and without obligation).
Building a newsletter
The E-Mail Editor lets you pick a layout from a range of templates or design your own newsletter from scratch, and Swiss Newsletter says it makes sure the result looks good on every device. A preview shows how the email will appear on different devices, with desktop and mobile views named, before anything goes out. The menu calls this part of the product the Layout Editor, and the homepage sums it up as "Freiheit in der Gestaltung" (freedom in design).
Personalized content lets one email carry different content for different recipient segments, so a single mailing can serve several groups instead of being produced once per group. Multilingual sending is built in as well: if needed, emails can also go out in French, Italian and English, and sending can run for several languages at the same time. For a Swiss sender whose list spans the country's language regions, that is one of the more practical features on the page.
Contacts and signups
Contact management runs inside Swiss Newsletter. You import contacts with the help of an import assistant, manage them in the tool, and create your own contact fields and segments for different recipient groups. Those segments then drive both targeting and the personalized content blocks described above. The Formular-Generator creates a signup form in a few clicks that you embed on your website, so interested visitors can subscribe to your newsletter directly.
Sending and deliverability
Sends can be planned ahead. With Versandplanung (send planning), a mailing starts automatically at the time you choose, and the page adds that you can turn your attention to more important things in the meantime. The feature menu lists this as Zeitgesteuerter Versand (time-controlled sending).
Deliverability is where Swiss Newsletter makes its firmest claim. The homepage says newsletters that end up in the spam folder achieve nothing, and that "Unsere CSA-Zertifizierung sorgt für bestmögliche Zustellraten" (our CSA certification ensures optimal delivery rates). The feature text explains that because its servers are certified by the Certified Senders Alliance, its emails are delivered preferentially, then adds with a wink, "Solange Sie kein Spam versenden, versteht sich :)" (as long as you do not send spam, of course).
Reporting
Detailed reports start the moment a send begins. The homepage says it shows you live which contacts open a newsletter and which links are especially interesting, with tracking switched on automatically. Each report is also available at any time as a PDF download, which suits senders who pass results on to a board, a client or colleagues.
Data protection
Data security is the second of the three homepage promises, and one customer, brokerbusiness.ch, singles out that "Entwicklung und Hosting erfolgen in der Schweiz" (development and hosting take place in Switzerland). The privacy statement names mailXpert GmbH in Zurich as the party responsible for personal data, says the company is subject to Swiss data protection law and, where it applies, the EU's GDPR, and lists a data protection representative in the European Economic Area under Art. 27 GDPR. It notes that the European Commission recognizes Swiss data protection law as adequate. The statement says the company processes personal data in principle in Switzerland and the European Economic Area, and exports it elsewhere only where the destination offers adequate protection or another legal basis applies. It grants data subjects the rights of the applicable law, naming access, correction, restriction, deletion, objection and the handover or transfer of their data, and it names the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (EDÖB) as the Swiss supervisory authority. For its own newsletters and notifications, the statement says opens and clicks are measured with tracking pixels and links, and that consent is collected by double opt-in where possible. For its own processing it lists hosting and storage providers including cloudscale.ch, cyon, iWay and Nine Internet Solutions, alongside Hetzner and Google Cloud.
Support and resources
Help comes from a knowledge base with guides and tips on Swiss Newsletter and on email marketing in general, and the support page adds "Wir helfen Ihnen gerne!" (we are glad to help) for anyone who gets stuck. The support team is based in Zurich, the contact address is info@swissnewsletter.ch, and the site also runs a blog, a questions and answers section, an about page and a newsletter with news and tips on email marketing. The homepage shows no prices; the menu links a separate pricing page.
What customers say
Six customer quotes on the homepage, each with a link to one of their newsletters, show who uses it. Thomas Plüss of SCHMOBI calls it "ein einfaches, benutzerfreundliches und kostengünstiges Newsletter Tool, besonders für Schweizer KMU" (a simple, user-friendly and inexpensive newsletter tool, especially for Swiss SMEs). The jazz association UpJazz uses it to keep jazz fans informed about concerts with little effort, brokerbusiness.ch AG to inform customers, partners and prospects, the start-up Battleparks because it is inexpensive but professional and grows with its contact list, the Inuit Galerie to present sculptures attractively, and a self-employed furniture designer, Lindgren Möbeldesign, as the right tool for a one-person business.
Who it suits
Swiss Newsletter fits Swiss SMEs, associations, galleries, start-ups and sole traders who want a straightforward newsletter tool from a Swiss company, with customer addresses kept in Switzerland and support from Zurich. The multilingual sending and segment-based content suit organizations writing to German, French and Italian speakers from one account, and the free test account makes it easy to try. The feature list is centered on newsletters, so a team planning automated journeys or developer integrations should check the pricing and feature pages first.
