What Sender is

Sender is an email marketing platform with built-in SMS, aimed, in its own words, at small businesses, ecommerce stores and SaaS teams. It sends campaigns and newsletters, runs automated email and SMS workflows, and handles transactional mail through a REST API or SMTP, all from one dashboard that also covers signup forms, popups and landing pages. The homepage headline is "Email marketing that sells without the hassle", and the site says Sender is trusted by 180,000+ businesses, inviting visitors to "Join over 180,000 companies using Sender". Subscriber data is hosted in the European Union on every plan, including the free one, which matters for teams that have to answer GDPR questions from customers or procurement.

Campaigns, editor and templates

Campaigns are built in a drag-and-drop editor, with an HTML editor and a plain-text editor as alternatives on every plan. The comparison table on the pricing page lists 100+ premade email templates, an image library and image editor, a product picker, video and custom HTML blocks, saved reusable sections, a mobile and desktop preview toggle, a dark email preview, an email size checker and auto-branded emails. Ecommerce blocks such as abandoned cart, billing info and order summary are available on all plans. Paid plans add A/B testing, which the features page says covers subject lines, send times and content. Professional adds a feedback block for reviews and an animated countdown timer. Every plan includes a spam check before sending, custom DKIM settings and scheduling.

Lists, segmentation and forms

Subscriber groups are unlimited on all plans, and the table rates segmentation as "Advanced" on every tier, with premade basic and ecommerce segments, behavioral targeting and targeting by campaign engagement. The features page says an audience can be divided "based on behavior, preferences, and purchase history". Each subscriber has one profile holding consent, contact details, signup source and the full send and engagement history, and the whole record can be viewed, exported or deleted in one place. Unsubscribes are removed from lists automatically.

For list growth, Sender offers static signup forms and popups built from 40+ templates, including a spin-to-win wheel and exit-intent popups, with custom timing, display on specific pages or when an element is clicked, scheduled frequency, SMS opt-in collection, unlimited custom fields and TCPA and GDPR consent collection. The landing page builder uses responsive templates and premade blocks (hero, features, pricing, newsletter signup forms and more), with SEO settings and real-time reports. The free plan allows 10 landing pages with Sender branding; paid plans get unlimited pages and a custom domain.

Automation and SMS

Automation is included from the free plan, with pre-built and custom workflows, unlimited triggers and steps, automation splits and custom trigger automations. According to the features page, workflows handle onboarding, lead nurturing and purchase follow-ups, set off by subscriber actions, purchases or custom events. Custom Events are the notable piece: a website or app reports an action, such as a user completing an onboarding step or reaching a purchase threshold, and Sender starts the matching workflow with an email or a text. Standard and higher plans add automatic resends to non-openers.

SMS campaigns start on Standard, and SMS inside automation starts on Professional. There, the features FAQ says, email and SMS share one workflow with the same trigger, delay and conditional logic, so a sequence can send a text after an email or the other way round. Texts are paid with credits priced by destination country, and some countries require the sender to be verified first, which the help center covers. Professional and Enterprise include free SMS credits equal to the monthly subscription fee.

Transactional email, API and deliverability

Transactional email is on every plan, Free included. The features page says messages go out "via REST API or SMTP with up to 99% deliverability and SPF/DKIM/DMARC authentication", with real-time delivery analytics at every tier. Plans differ on event webhooks (1 on Free, 5 on Standard, unlimited above), on log retention and bounce classification history (1 day on Free and Standard, 5 on Professional, 30 on Enterprise) and on teammate permissions. Every plan gets unlimited custom sending domains, suppression management, bounce and block classifications, ISP feedback loop data, email logs, API key permissions and dynamic templates. The pricing FAQ adds that SMTP is part of the service rather than a separate product.

On infrastructure, the table lists a purpose-built mail transfer agent, domain authentication (SPF/DKIM), reputation and delivery visibility and "Cloud Infrastructure with 99.99% Uptime" on all plans. The GDPR page describes account reviews at signup and after major list uploads, with purchased and scraped lists flagged before they can be sent, so that the senders sharing infrastructure do not drag down each other's inbox placement.

Reporting and integrations

Reports cover opens, clicks, conversions and ecommerce revenue per campaign and automation, updated in real time, along with click heatmaps, audience growth, automation reports, form and landing page reports and Google Analytics tracking. Paid plans add ecommerce reports, and Professional adds performance by group and by inbox provider. Once a store is connected, the features FAQ says reports show total revenue attributed to Sender, new orders generated and ROI per send.

Native store integrations cover Shopify, WooCommerce and PrestaShop, and the homepage also names WordPress, Jumpseller and Zapier, while the pricing table counts 100+ other integrations. Custom connections run through the REST API, Zapier or Ottokit. A Sender MCP server links an account to an AI assistant, and the help center says it comes with safeguards that keep the assistant from sending anything on its own.

Plans and prices

Sender prices by subscriber count and states "no contracts, obligations or setup fees". The figures below are for the smallest tier of 500 subscribers, exclude VAT (the FAQ says it varies by country) and show the 30 percent first-year discount on annual billing, which the page says "is valid for first-time users". No plan has a daily sending limit.

  • Free Forever, $0 with no credit card: 1 seat, up to 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month, newsletters, automation, landing pages, signup forms and popups, and transactional email, with Sender branding required. The FAQ says the plan never expires.
  • Standard, $6.30 a month, billed annually at $108 before the first-year discount: up to 6,000 emails a month (12x the subscriber count), 3 role-based seats, no Sender branding, SMS messaging, unlimited templates and landing pages, a custom domain, A/B testing and advanced ecommerce reports.
  • Professional, marked "BEST VALUE", $10.50 a month, billed at $180 a year or $126 for the first year: a monthly email allowance of 24x the subscriber count, 10 role-based seats, free SMS credits, advanced multichannel automation, advanced reports and priority support. Dedicated IPs are listed on plans of 20,000 subscribers and above, and the FAQ says one is set up for Professional accounts on request at no additional cost, recommending it above 500,000 emails a month.
  • Enterprise, custom price after a demo: unlimited emails, a dedicated success manager, advanced user permissions, a service level agreement, activity logs for auditing, SSO (SAML v2), phone support and a Business Associate Agreement.

For irregular senders, a "Pay as you go" plan sells email credits with no recurring fee: 5,000 emails cost $29, shown as $5.80 per 1,000 emails, with packs up to 1,000,000 emails. Credit accounts get unlimited subscribers, no Sender logo, automation, SMS campaigns, priority support and a dedicated IP.

Data, compliance and support

The GDPR page says all subscriber data is hosted in the European Union by default, with "no extra setup, no separate paid tier". Consent tooling includes unticked consent checkboxes, double opt-in with timestamped confirmation and automatic logging of every form submission. A Data Processing Agreement under Article 28 of the GDPR is available on request, and a designated data protection officer handles rights requests by email. Two-factor authentication and TLS encryption are on every plan, and the site footer carries "GDPR Compliant" and "ISO Certified" badges.

Support is 24/7 by email and live chat on every plan, including Free, and the site cites a 10 sec average response time and a 99% satisfaction rate. Professional gets priority support and Enterprise adds phone support. The help center offers four guided setup paths, Sender Academy offers self-paced courses, and the interface is available in English, Lithuanian, Polish and Spanish. The homepage promises a "100% free, done-for-you migration in 7 days", in which the team recreates lists, templates and automations, and states that "Complimentary, full-service migration is included with all annual plans of 20k+ subscribers."

Who it suits

Sender fits small businesses, creators and ecommerce stores that want automation from day one without paying: the free plan runs welcome series and custom event triggers for up to 2,500 subscribers. Shops on Shopify, WooCommerce or PrestaShop get revenue attribution per campaign, SaaS teams get custom events plus transactional email on the same account, and teams that need EU data residency get it on every tier.

The caveats sit in the plan table. SMS automation needs Professional, A/B testing is not on Free, the free plan keeps Sender branding and a 10-page landing page cap, seats are capped at 1, 3 and 10 below Enterprise, and transactional logs are kept for only a day on the lower plans. SSO, a service level agreement and phone support are Enterprise features on custom pricing.
