What ReachMail is
ReachMail is an email marketing service with a built-in SMTP and API relay, run by ReachMail Inc. It sends newsletters and marketing campaigns, automated drip messages and customer journeys, and, through its Easy-SMTP relay, one-at-a-time transactional mail from apps, websites and devices. The About page gives two aims the company has held since its founding: to be the easiest way for marketers to send email, and to offer the most personal customer service it can. It says it serves organizations from small businesses, nonprofits and community groups to Fortune 500 companies, and the home page calls ReachMail "an industry leader in Email Marketing Services and Transactional Email delivery".
The company history on the About page starts at Publishing Dynamics Inc, then a web design firm in Naperville, Illinois, where ReachMail was created when customers wanted to extend their digital marketing to email. It later became a standalone company under new management, rebuilt its infrastructure, moved its headquarters to the Chicago Loop and began offering free email and phone support to all customers. Easy-SMTP, the transactional service, came next. The contact address listed on the site today is in San Diego, California, and the footer copyright runs from 2001.
Building and sending campaigns
ReachMail offers two editors, and the features page says "Whether you prefer a drag-and-drop editor or a WYSIWYG, ReachMail has you covered". The drag-and-drop editor was built with responsive display in mind so messages look right on mobile and desktop, and marketing firms get an advanced HTML editor. Every account has dozens of professionally designed templates, new accounts get one free custom-designed template, and "Email from an Email" lets you write content in your usual email program and turn it into a campaign. An image library and file manager host images, PDFs and HTML files.
Before each send, an automatic spam checker "runs thousands of checks against your content" and warns you if anything looks suspicious. A/B testing compares versions of a mailing, and dynamic content shows or hides parts of a campaign based on each recipient's data, so one base message can be personalized where it matters.
Lists, segments and sign-up forms
List imports work by dragging a file in, and new lists can be built with sign-up forms on your website or social media pages. Forms can be customized and hosted on your site, and ReachMail also hosts every form online for senders without a website. The List Segment tool builds dynamic segments on any field, and preference centers let recipients choose what they receive.
Targeting by engagement gets particular attention. Dynamic Segmentation limits a send to contacts who engaged with recent campaigns; you only choose how recent. The Engagement Scanner targets active subscribers for your most important messages. You can also tag opens and clicks on a message, so ReachMail adds those tags to each contact record for later targeting.
List cleaning is built in. The tour describes it as a one-click operation that removes bouncing addresses, disposable domains, "toxic but deliverable spam traps, honeypots, and frequent spam complainers", run with partners that the company calls industry leaders in data hygiene and validation. It has its own tab on the pricing page, so cleaning is paid separately from sending.
Automation and reporting
The marketing automation tour covers welcome emails, sign-up confirmations, drip campaigns and customer journeys. Drip campaigns run on AutoMessages, and lead nurturing uses Journey workflows. Advanced automation adds follow-up campaigns and auto-tagging, and surveys collect feedback from your audience. A social media link posts campaign content to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and tracks responses on one dashboard.
Reporting covers opens, clicks, bounces and engagement. You can compare summary stats across campaigns to see how delivery is trending, or open detailed reports with lists of openers and clickers and SMTP transaction logs. Open and click tracking is free, custom link tracking domains are available, and campaigns can report into Google Analytics, Matomo, OpenWebAnalytics or Oribi.
The Easy-SMTP relay
The relay handles two kinds of traffic. For marketers, it works with SMTP-based tools such as GMass and OnGage, with campaign tags for segmented reporting, multiple brand support for SPF, DKIM and tracking, and dedicated IPs. For apps and websites, it sends transactional mail such as shopping cart notifications, and the page names appliances, security systems, DVRs and printers or copiers as senders too.
You connect to the SMTP host on ports 25, 2525, 587 or 465 (SMTPS only), and devices that cannot handle SMTP authentication or SSL can use IP authentication instead. Simple and advanced API endpoints handle email injection, reporting endpoints and webhooks deliver results, and bounces are relayed back to the sender. The home page promises two full years of relay reporting. ReachMail signs all messages with DKIM and SPF automatically, encourages custom DKIM and SPF, and lists integrated detailed DMARC reporting. The About page adds that Easy-SMTP tracks opens and clicks on transactional messages such as receipts and confirmations. New relay accounts get 250 free credits.
Integrations
Zapier connects ReachMail with other apps without coding; the relay FAQ puts the count at 2000+ apps and the features page at 3000+. The FAQ gives examples: integrate your CRM or Shopify store, or create a mailing from a WordPress blog post. A full API manages lists, schedules messages and retrieves reporting data.
Plans and prices
The features page lists three marketing plans. Free costs $0, Basic starts at $8 a month and Pro starts at $18 a month. The feature grid steps up the limits between them: 2, 20 or unlimited lists; 1, 3 or unlimited AutoMessages and Journeys; 1, 3 or unlimited DKIM signature domains; simple forms, 5 advanced forms or unlimited advanced forms; and 5, 10 or 50 MB of file storage. Support is email and chat on Free, and email, chat and phone on Basic and Pro.
The pricing page offers a 14 day free trial with no credit card required. Its plans are set by contact count with a monthly email volume, prices are shown as an estimate before taxes and overages, and overages are priced per 1,000 emails. A custom plan covers high volume and unlimited contacts, and dedicated IPs are available on request. The High Volume solution adds dedicated or shared IP space, advanced DKIM and DMARC support, and list and IP warming automations, and the features page lists automated IP warming for lists of 50K and up.
Support
Support is the second half of the company's mission. The features page says ReachMail "includes unlimited Email and SMS chat support for ALL customers. Free plans are included!" Paid plans add US-based phone support for using the platform and dealing with deliverability issues, and extra help is available for migrations and campaign management, up to fully managed services. Support hours are 8am to 6pm Central Time, Monday to Friday, on +1-888-947-3224 and +1-312-229-0070 or by email at support@reachmail.com. The About page describes staff who help you develop your email strategy, drawing on more than a decade of email experience.
Customers quoted on the home page praise that service: a reviewer from Viviota got immediate help with an ISP problem, and one from The Information Refinery calls the list tools and reporting "extremely useful" and the customer service team "fantastic".
Who it suits
ReachMail suits small businesses and nonprofits that want a free or low-cost plan with a human on the phone, marketing firms that manage several brands with separate users and permissions, and larger or high-volume senders who need dedicated IPs, DMARC reporting and IP warming. Developers and device makers get an SMTP relay that accepts connections from apps, printers and security systems. The combination of marketing and relay in one account, built-in list cleaning and the spam checker make it a practical choice for senders who care about deliverability as much as design.
