What Laposta is

Laposta is Dutch newsletter software for organizations that send email campaigns to their own subscribers: municipalities, associations, schools, small businesses and other Dutch and Flemish organizations. Its homepage headline reads "Professionele nieuwsbrieven stuur je met Laposta" (you send professional newsletters with Laposta), followed by its 2 main claims: "Al je data in Nederland en verrassend gebruiksvriendelijk" (all your data in the Netherlands, and surprisingly easy to use). The site presents the product as "Nederlandse software" and says that "meer dan 78% van de Nederlandse gemeenten en tal van Vlaamse en Nederlandse organisaties" (more than 78% of Dutch municipalities and many Flemish and Dutch organizations) choose it.

The homepage backs that up with figures of its own: "246+ gemeenten communiceren met Laposta" (more than 246 municipalities communicate through Laposta), "19 jaar ervaring met nieuwsbrieven" (19 years of experience with newsletters), "1 miljoen mensen ontvangen een mail uit Laposta, elke dag" (1 million people receive an email from Laposta every day) and "50.000+ tevreden gebruikers" (more than 50,000 satisfied users). The site is in Dutch, with an English switch on the login page.

Building and sending a newsletter

The workflow the homepage describes is short: upload your email addresses, use a template or build one yourself, and send. The campaign editor works by clicking and dragging, and the site says you can "Bouw in 10 minuten een nieuwsbrief door simpelweg te klikken en slepen" (build a newsletter in 10 minutes simply by clicking and dragging). The footer links to guides on templates, on personalizing and segmenting, and on "Digitaal toegankelijke nieuwsbrieven" (digitally accessible newsletters), a topic that matters to the public-sector senders Laposta counts among its users.

Contact management is under "Relatiebeheer". You can add email addresses in bulk, and collect new contacts with a sign-up form that comes ready to use: "Verzamel nieuwe relaties met een aanmeldformulier dat al voor je klaarstaat". Results are reported live: "Live statistieken voor elke nieuwsbrief, lijst en relatie", live statistics for every newsletter, every list and every individual contact. The login page describes the product in 4 parts: automations, contact management, results and campaigns.

Automations

Laposta's automations are flows built on triggers or on contact characteristics: "Maak automatische flows aan op basis van triggers of kenmerken van relaties". The homepage illustrates this with a small flow. The trigger is "Aanmelding" (a new sign-up), followed by an "Als/dan" (if/then) condition on "Taal" (language), which branches into NL and EN, and each branch sends its own mail, NL.html or EN.html. In practice that means a bilingual organization can greet each new subscriber in the right language without sending 2 separate campaigns, and the same pattern works for any other contact field used as a condition.

Accounts, security and compliance

Account security gets its own section. "Log veilig in met 2FA en maak zelf gebruikers met verschillende rechten en rollen aan" (log in securely with 2FA and create users with different rights and roles yourself). The login page also offers Single Sign-On and a separate login for a "Beheeromgeving" (management environment), which suits organizations that run several accounts or want staff to use their existing company login.

On compliance, the homepage has a section headed "Compliance & veiligheid" that lists processing agreements ("Verwerkersovereenkomsten"), secure login and security measures. The footer links to pages titled "100% GDPR/AVG-proof", "ISO-27001 certificering", "Subverwerkers" (subprocessors), "Beveiliging gegevens" (data security) and "Wetgeving en misbruik" (legislation and abuse). The subscription plan lists "Eigen verwerkersovereenkomst", your own processing agreement, among its extras. With the data-in-the-Netherlands claim on the homepage, these are the points Laposta makes about where and how subscriber data is handled.

Plans and prices

Laposta has 3 ways to pay, and the homepage explains the reasoning: "Omdat we vinden dat goede software voor iedereen toegankelijk moet zijn, is Laposta gratis tot 2000 relaties" (because we believe good software should be accessible to everyone, Laposta is free up to 2000 contacts).

Gratis (free), "voor altijd" (forever). For small or growing organizations. The plan covers up to 2,000 contacts and up to 12,000 emails a month, with support by email, a maximum of 3 users, and a Laposta advertisement under every mail. No payment details or credit card are needed to start.

Abonnement (subscription), called Professioneel. "Voor serieuze organisaties, zonder reclame onder elke mail" (for serious organizations, without an ad under every mail). It includes an unlimited number of newsletters, no Laposta advertising, fast phone support, an unlimited number of users, extra custom solutions and your own processing agreement. The price starts at €210 a year ("Vanaf € 210 / per jaar").

Mailcredits. "Voor wie eenmalig of sporadisch een nieuwsbrief verstuurt" (for those who send a newsletter once or occasionally). You pay per newsletter sent, with no Laposta advertising and no subscription. Sending is not unlimited, the credits stay valid indefinitely ("Onbeperkt geldig"), and the number of users is unlimited. Mailcredits start at €9.

The homepage summary says that with a subscription or mailcredits you send without the Laposta logo and get access to all the program's extra options.

Integrations and support

For connecting other systems, Laposta offers a free API: "Koppel je account eenvoudig aan andere software met onze gratis API" (easily link your account to other software with our free API). The footer links to documentation, a partner program, a quick-start guide and a status page. Support runs through the helpdesk: email support on the free plan and fast phone support on the subscription. Customer quotes on the homepage praise the service, one saying that Laposta "heeft mij op persoonlijke manier geholpen, op maat geadviseerd en in tempo geantwoord" (helped me personally, gave tailored advice and answered quickly). The footer also points to a page on Laposta for education.

Who it suits

Laposta suits Dutch and Flemish organizations that want a Dutch-language newsletter tool with its data in the Netherlands, 2FA and SSO, and the compliance paperwork a public body or association asks for. Small associations, clubs and startups can run on the free plan until their list passes 2,000 contacts, as long as they accept the Laposta ad under each mail. Organizations that send regularly get a flat annual subscription, and those that send a few newsletters a year can buy mailcredits instead. Teams that need a full multichannel marketing suite or work only in English will find the product focused squarely on newsletters for a Dutch-speaking audience.
