Inboxroad

Tap a star to rate

Inboxroad is an email sending platform that covers two jobs: building and sending marketing campaigns, and delivering the email an application sends through SMTP relay or a REST API. Its pricing page frames the choice directly: send through email campaigns or through SMTP delivery, and scale up to Email Pro when you are ready. Every paid plan comes with at least one dedicated IP and a sending domain, and plans are priced by the number of emails you send each month rather than by the size of your contact list. The site is available in English, German and Dutch, and a free allowance of 1,000 emails a month lets a team test it before paying.

Campaigns: builder, lists and statistics

The campaign side is built around a drag-and-drop email builder with an HTML editor for those who prefer to code their own layout. The feature menu adds ready-made templates ("Design done for you"), personalization ("Make emails personal") and automation ("Automate with smart workflows"). On the Email plan, the pricing page lists the campaign builder with both editors, templates, lists and segmentation, unlimited contacts, campaign statistics, Google Analytics tracking and integrations.

Contacts are managed as contact lists and segments, and a suppression feature is described as protecting your sender status. On the reporting side, the menu names campaign statistics ("Know what works"), user engagement insights and domain statistics, and webhooks keep other systems in sync with what happens to each email.

SMTP relay and the Email API

For application mail, Inboxroad offers SMTP relay and a REST API. The API page describes it as a way to send transactional and marketing emails from your app with a clean REST API, with authentication, warm-up and monitoring included. Integration takes three steps on that page: generate API credentials and verify your domain, POST a JSON payload with recipients, subject, HTML or text content and optional attachments and headers, then observe deliveries, bounces and complaints through webhooks. The same API handles transactional and batch sends. Responses come back as JSON with message IDs for tracking and retries, and security relies on API tokens with TLS required.

Webhooks cover deliveries, bounces and complaints, plus subscriptions, opens and clicks. The page says events (delivered, bounced, complained and deferrals where relevant) arrive at your HTTPS endpoint in seconds, so your application can update a user's status, trigger workflows or pause risky traffic. Detailed sending statistics are also available via the API, though the page marks that as "currently on request."

On deliverability, the API page promises guidance for SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup, with safe warm-up and provider-aware throttling included. It says most teams send their first emails within an hour after DNS verification, and quotes a lead developer at Paylane who had transactional emails sending within an hour. The menu also lists a "Multiple SMTP" feature for switching between several SMTP setups.

The company publishes two figures about its own network on the API page: "We currently route ~120M emails/week. Median inbox rate (last 90 days): 97.1%."

Plans and pricing

The pricing page uses a volume slider with steps at 10K, 50K, 100K, 250K, 500K, 750K, 1M and 1M+ emails a month, and shows prices in euros or US dollars. At the 100,000 emails a month setting, the three plans are:

  • SMTP ("Reliable email delivery"), €68 a month with 1 dedicated IP and 1 sending domain. It includes SMTP relay and APIs, dedicated IPs by tier, custom IP warm-up, an easy DNS setup guide, domain statistics, webhooks to multiple endpoints and email support.
  • Email ("Beautiful email campaigns"), marked most popular, €248 a month with 1 dedicated IP and 1 sending domain. It includes the campaign builder (drag-and-drop and HTML editor), templates, lists and segmentation, unlimited contacts, campaign statistics, Google Analytics tracking, integrations and email support.
  • Email Pro ("Powerful campaigns at scale"), €578 a month with 2 dedicated IPs and 2 sending domains. It combines drag-and-drop email campaigns with SMTP relay and APIs, and adds multiple IP pools for routing by stream, brand or region, per-ISP send-rate control for Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft, automated warm-up with ISP-aware profiles, integrated feedback loops, a global suppression list with automatic complaint suppression, multiple webhooks, IP delisting assistance with a playbook and SLA, a dashboard with proactive monitoring, a named account manager and a monthly deliverability review.

The FAQ fills in the billing rules. Emails beyond your plan are charged at "the exact same CPM as your current plan", and if you exceed it consistently, the company suggests moving to a bigger package. Plan fees are charged monthly to a credit card or via SEPA, and extra usage is billed the following month. You can add as many IPs and domains as you need: extra IPs are 39 EUR a month and extra domains 10 EUR a month. For large senders, the FAQ says the Email service "scales up to 300M+ emails per month" and asks you to get in touch about your needs.

The free allowance is described as a trial: "You can send 1,000 emails for free every month." Each plan card repeats the offer with a start-for-free button for the 1,000 free emails.

Security and support

Asked whether data is secure, the FAQ answers that the company takes privacy and security very seriously and protects information with "industry-leading security standards", regular audits and strict privacy practices. The API page says you can reach the support team 24/7 by phone or email. The pricing cards list email support on the SMTP and Email plans, while Email Pro adds a named account manager and a monthly deliverability review. The site also offers a help center, API documentation, customer stories, an integrations directory and a demo booking.

Who it suits

Inboxroad fits a team that wants its own dedicated IP from day one and cares about the mechanics of delivery: warm-up, per-ISP throttling, feedback loops and IP pools. A developer adding email to an application gets a plain JSON API and webhooks for the events that matter, with SMTP relay for software that already speaks it. A marketing team that sends newsletters to a large list benefits from unlimited contacts on the Email plan and pricing tied to volume. Senders who run both campaign and application mail, or several brands, can combine them on Email Pro with separate IP pools. Because every paid plan includes a dedicated IP, the plans are built for real volume; a very small list may be served by the 1,000 free emails a month alone.
