Finalsite is a website, communications and enrollment platform for schools, and its email product, Finalsite Messages, is how a school or district builds newsletters, sends campaigns to families and runs automated email workflows. The email page's own headline is "Email Communication Tools for Schools", with the promise to "Create and automate emails and newsletters your community loves." The company lists US contact details in Glastonbury, Connecticut and a UK office, and the home page says it has been "Trusted by schools for more than 25 years".
Email is one part of a wider school platform. The home page groups Finalsite's products into websites (design, content management and an AI chatbot), communications (mass notifications, newsletters, real-time chat and email automation), mobile apps, enrollment (admissions, enrollment and tuition billing) and marketing services. The markets it names are school districts, independent schools, international schools, charter schools, UK independent schools, Catholic schools, higher education and local government.
What a sender gets
The email builder is drag-and-drop. The page says a school can create an original design "or choose from our library of 30 email templates", and that the builder makes templates look "as great on mobile devices as they do on desktop." The by-the-numbers section repeats the template count: "30 Pre-built best practice email templates available", built "with modern best practices in mind". Emails and newsletters are described as custom, accessible and mobile-friendly.
The feature that sets Finalsite Messages apart from a general email tool is its link to the Finalsite website. Under the heading "Create Once, Publish Everywhere" the page says schools "can automatically pull in dynamic website content from Athletics, Calendars, Posts, and Resources modules," so a sports result, a calendar entry or a news post already published on the school site can appear in a newsletter without being copied and pasted. For a communications office that already maintains a Finalsite website, this is the main time saver on offer.
Personalization works on both the subject line and the body. The page says a school can "Increase open rates with personalized subject lines and email engagement with personalized body content," and that "Personalization tokens integrate with your data system, ensuring accuracy." That data system is the student information system (SIS): Finalsite Messages "integrates with popular Student Information Systems to automatically ensure the integrity of your lists," under the line "Your marketing is only as good as your data." Elsewhere on the site, one school's website profile mentions using Blackbaud's data integration with Finalsite.
Automation runs through a companion product, Finalsite Workflows. The email page describes it as a way to "Create personalized, automated email campaigns that nurture prospective and current families to increase applicants, event attendance, donations, and so much more." Finalsite's blog explains the mechanism in its own terms: drip campaigns, or an "automated communication plan", in which a subscriber's action, such as beginning the application process, triggers a series of pre-written emails delivered on a set cadence. The same post suggests segmenting contacts into lists, for example by persona, before personalizing further as data comes in, and lists the kinds of sequences schools build this way: a welcome series for newly admitted students, a financial aid series, interview preparation emails, deadline reminders for enrollment and tuition dates, event invitations with follow-ups, and a monthly newsletter.
Reporting comes from a metrics dashboard. In the page's words: "Measure your community engagement with detailed statistics and a powerful analytics dashboard of open, click, bounce, and unsubscribe data."
Email sits beside other channels in the same platform. The home page says Finalsite's mass notification system, automated workflows and built-in newsletters send a school's most important communications to families "all from the same platform." The mass notification product is Finalsite Messages XR, which the site describes as a way to "reach everyone, everywhere, all from one place." A school mobile app adds a hub where parents chat with teachers and receive messages.
Figures the company publishes
The email page gives three numbers for Finalsite Messages. The first is volume: "217M" with the caption "Emails sent using Finalsite Messages in a year", followed by the claim that the platform "is equipped to handle email lists of schools and districts of all sizes." The second is the 30 pre-built templates. The third is engagement: "50%" as the "Average open rate of emails sent using Finalsite Messages", with the company adding that this is "more than double the industry average for education emails". These are Finalsite's own figures for its own customers.
The blog adds one more figure from the enrollment side of the business: it says 44% of emails sent through SchoolAdmin, Finalsite's admissions and enrollment software, were opened on a mobile device, which is why the company stresses single-column, tap-friendly design.
A client quote on the email page comes from Katie Rigney-Zimmermann, Director of Admissions, Marketing & Communications at Saigon South International School: "We have gained a level of sophistication and professionalism through branded and beautiful emails, the efficiency of email workflows, and most of all, our ability to sell the value of our school by showing all the great things we offer."
Buying and support
The site publishes no prices. The path to Finalsite Messages is a demo: the email page offers a free, personalized demo with a product expert, and says an education consultant will follow up after the form is submitted. The site also offers self-guided tours of its CMS and of Messages XR, a free graded review of a school's online admissions experience, a free website report card and a free school communications audit.
For support, the company menu points to a Support & Client Success section, training, free online courses, webinars and community groups. Client quotes on the home page mention extensive training webinars, the responsiveness of staff and a client success manager. The footer links to a Security and Privacy page and a privacy request form, and gives phone lines for Finalsite US and Finalsite UK.
Who it suits
Finalsite Messages fits a school or district that already runs, or plans to run, its website on Finalsite. The content pull from Athletics, Calendars, Posts and Resources, the SIS-synced lists and the shared platform with mass notifications and the mobile app only pay off when the school's other communications live in the same system. Admissions teams at independent and international schools get the workflow product for nurturing prospective families through inquiry and application, and communications offices at districts get newsletters that reuse website content.
It is not a fit for a business, a creator or a nonprofit outside education. The product, the templates, the integrations and the sales process are all built around schools, families and student data, and buying starts with a demo and a conversation with an education consultant rather than an online checkout.
