What Express-Mailing is
Express-Mailing is a French platform for sending email campaigns, SMS and fax mailings, with an API and SMTP relay for sending from your own software. The site footer names the publisher as Axalone France, at 1 rue Henri Poincaré in Mantes-la-Ville, and the home page calls it "une marque 100% Française" (a 100% French brand). Its tagline promises a multichannel platform "pour communiquer en temps réel" (to communicate in real time), and the page title lists email, SMS, fax and audio.
The company describes its roots as a marketing consultancy founded in May 2002, whose goal for more than 20 years has been to make direct marketing accessible to small and mid-sized firms ("PME-PMI"). It says it builds its own technology: "Nous sommes développeurs de notre propre plateforme de communication multicanal et de nos propres API" (we develop our own multichannel communication platform and our own APIs). The home page gives two customer figures in different places, "plus de 15 000 clients de tous horizons" in the company description and "plus de 10 000 clients TPE, PME et grands groupes" in the footer.
Who it is for
The email platform's site addresses four audiences, each with its own short pitch. Public administrations get a secure, compliant communication solution with full training for their teams and simplified invoicing through Chorus. Businesses selling goods and services to other businesses get a fast, customizable tool for generating leads, also with training and Chorus invoicing. A third offer stresses different sending modes for different flows, security and confidentiality to GDPR standards (RGPD in French) and responsive French customer support. Marketing and communication agencies get flexible formulas, "abonnement ou tickets" (subscription or tickets), a simple tool with customizable templates, French support and an SMTP relay.
The FAQ says the platform suits small businesses, SMEs and large companies alike, and describes it as a complete, intuitive tool for managing B2B email campaigns. A testimonial from the French subsidiary of WEINMANN Emergency explains why it picked a local emailing platform to complement the newsletters sent by its head office in Germany.
Building and sending email
The current platform is called My Express-Mailing. A blog post announcing it says the old V3 interface, though functional, was showing its age, so the company redesigned it to be modern and clean with smoother navigation, and refreshed the email templates at the same time. New features include a pre-header field, emoji in subject lines, and a preview module that shows how an email renders on more than 100 different email clients, from iPhone and Android to several versions of Outlook and webmail such as Hotmail, Gmail and Orange/Wanadoo, including tablets in portrait and landscape.
The editor gives control over content and structure, and the site offers video tutorials and personalized coaching to help new users. Customer testimonials describe choosing a design from the template library, adapting it in the editor, and uploading their own templates; one client names template types for promotions, corporate news, events and holidays. The FAQ adds several practical details: about thirty merge fields ("une trentaine de champs de publipostage") for personalizing messages, HTML-only sending because the platform no longer sends plain-text email, and bounce messages routed to Express-Mailing rather than to your own sender address so the platform can process as many as possible.
If you have no design, the FAQ says the company works with the Marketing Tactics agency, in the same offices, which can produce one for you. The home page also offers to take projects off your hands entirely ("on se charge de tout", we take care of everything).
Lists and data
Contact list management covers import, filtering and export. The site says you can "Exportez et filtrez vos contacts en toute simplicité tout en respectant les normes RGPD" (export and filter your contacts simply while respecting GDPR standards), and exporting a list means generating an Excel file with subscribers' addresses, details and statistics. The FAQ describes four ways to build a list, starting with adding subscribers one at a time. Express-Mailing also gives access to a B2B database for targeted campaigns and can supply B2B email addresses, though the FAQ notes that address rental is not its core business. The site also lists cleaning your files as part of list management.
Deliverability and reporting
The company puts its deliverability expertise up front. It says it ensures optimal deliverability through email configuration expertise and advanced protocols, naming SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and that its experts in deliverability assist customers directly with technical problems or to improve delivery. A blog article by the company's deliverability engineer explains why employee, transactional and prospecting email flows should be kept apart, which matches the promise of different sending modes for different flows in the product pitch.
For reporting, the site promises statistics on every interaction so you can keep improving your mailings, and the FAQ confirms you will know how many recipients read a campaign and who they are, through open tracking.
SMS, fax and the API
The SMS platform is developed in-house and, according to the home page, relies on direct connections with the four mobile operators in France ("les 4 opérateurs de téléphonie mobile en France"). It handles mass sending of personalized SMS. The company's GDPR article covers the SMS rules customers must follow: personalizing the sender ID, offering a "STOP" reply to unsubscribe, and being able to prove consent "à tout moment, et sous un délai de 15 jours ouvrés" (at any time, and within 15 working days). Its email-versus-SMS article notes the 160-character limit of an SMS and gives an estimated opening speed of under 4 minutes.
Fax mailing is aimed at reaching shopkeepers, administrations and industrial SMEs directly. For developers, the API lets you send SMS, faxes or email in real time "avec seulement quelques lignes de code" (with just a few lines of code) from your CRM, intranet or business applications, whether local or in the cloud, and the menu lists API and SMTP access.
Data location and compliance
The home page is explicit about hosting: the data of its emailing solution is stored in its own data center in Essonne, near its offices. Its blog discusses data sovereignty as a key issue for French companies and public bodies. The footer cites a CNIL declaration number, and the service offer includes drafting GDPR legal notices as part of campaign support.
Pricing and trial
The menu has a pricing page (Tarifs), a quote request ("UN DEVIS ?") and a free trial ("ESSAI GRATUIT"), and the home page offers free account creation. Plans come as subscriptions or ticket packs according to the agency offer. The FAQ says most emailing formulas carry no setup fee, with the exception of its professional formula.
Support
Support is a large part of the offer. The team is available Monday to Thursday from 9h to 18h and Friday from 9h to 17h. The company says it can build your direct marketing operations "de A à Z" (from A to Z): targeting strategy, copywriting advice, strategic briefs, form creation, GDPR legal notices and analysis of results, and it invites prospects to ask for a personalized project study.
The verdict
Express-Mailing suits French SMEs, agencies and public bodies that want email, SMS and fax from one French provider, with data stored in France, Chorus invoicing and a support team that will coach them or run campaigns for them. The API and SMTP relay add a route for application email. The caveats are that the site and support are French-language, and that plan prices sit on the separate pricing page, so a quote or the free trial is the way to see costs.
