Bitelio
Tap a star to rate
Bitelio is an email platform that puts transactional sending and marketing email in one account. Its home page sums up the idea as the receipt, the newsletter and the nudge all sent from one platform: password resets and receipts go out over a REST API or SMTP, while newsletters, broadcasts and automated journeys are built in the dashboard, and both run on "one deliverability engine underneath it all." The product is aimed first at developers and product teams, with use-case pages for SaaS companies, developers, ecommerce shops, startups, agencies and marketing teams. The footer names the company as Overthings, S.L., and the site's tagline reads "All-in-one email platform for transactional, marketing, and automation. EU-hosted, GDPR compliant."
What a sender gets
Transactional email. Developers send receipts, password resets and alerts over the REST API or SMTP, "fired by events, backed by SDKs." The API supports idempotency for duplicate-proof sending and webhooks that stream every delivery event back to the application, and real-time logs let a team "query sends, opens, and bounces the moment they happen." The pricing page promises "Full API access": "anything you can click in the dashboard, you can script." Use-case pages cover sending from Next.js route handlers and server actions and from Node.js backends such as Express, Nest and Fastify. The features menu also lists inbound email.
SMTP. The SMTP page positions it for everything that is not a modern app: "Modern apps can call the HTTP API; everything else can point its existing SMTP settings at Bitelio." Connections run over TLS/SSL on ports 465 and 587, and any SMTP-capable application or email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail) can connect with project credentials. Multiple recipients, attachments, HTML bodies and custom headers are supported. Bitelio confirms the sender domain is verified before accepting a message, and mail sent over SMTP travels the same pipeline as API mail, with tracking included. The comparison table on that page is candid about the limits: templates and workflow automation work through the API but not through SMTP, so the company's advice is to use the API for modern apps and SMTP for email clients and older systems.
Campaigns and automation. Marketers can send broadcasts to the full list or to a live segment without filing a ticket with the developers. Workflows are drag-and-drop sequences with waits, conditions and branching paths, "kicked off by events from your app." The features menu lists an email editor alongside workflows and segments.
Segments. Segmentation is one of the better-documented parts of the site. Dynamic segments combine "contact data, custom fields, email activity, and events with nested AND/OR conditions" and recalculate on their own as data changes, so no one re-uploads a list. Static segments hold hand-picked contacts such as beta cohorts or VIP customers. A workflow can fire "the moment someone joins or leaves a segment", and running workflows can branch on segment membership. The examples on the page include active users who joined within 30 days and opened an email within 7 days, dormant contacts with no activity for 60 days, and high-value customers whose total spend is above 1000. Behavior-based segments slice the list by opens, clicks, bounces or emails that never arrived, and A/B testing works by splitting an audience into test and control segments and comparing the results.
Reporting. Opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribes are tracked "at the email, campaign, and contact level."
What it leaves out on purpose. The comparison pages say that form and landing page builders "are intentionally out of scope"; a sender builds pages with their own stack and connects them to Bitelio through the API. Bitelio says it "deliberately stays focused on email delivery and automation."
Plans and pricing
Bitelio bills by emails sent, not contacts stored: "Pay for what you send. Store contacts for free." Every tier includes transactional email, campaigns, workflow automation, unlimited contacts, custom domains, segments, analytics and full API access, and "upgrading buys capacity, not features."
- Free: $0 a month for 1,000 emails a month, with automations, campaigns and transactional sending, custom domains, unlimited contacts, and tracking and analytics. Emails carry a Bitelio badge. No card is required.
- Pro: $19 a month for 15,000 emails a month, adding badge-free emails, email support and 3 teammates. Overage costs $1.20 per 1,000 emails.
- Scale: $99 a month for 100,000 emails a month, adding a dedicated sending IP, 10 teammates and priority support, with the same $1.20 per 1,000 overage.
- Enterprise: custom volume and commitments, with SSO/SAML and audit logs, "Guaranteed uptime & SLA", teammates without limits and white-glove onboarding.
The comparison pages add that extra volume is charged at that flat overage rate, so a sender is never forced into a bigger tier, and that migration from another provider usually means exporting a CSV of contacts, importing it through the dashboard or API, and rebuilding sequences in the workflow builder.
Deliverability, data and compliance
For authentication, Bitelio says "We generate SPF, DKIM, and a custom MAIL FROM for your domain, plus DMARC guidance", and the home page summarizes it as "SPF, DKIM & DMARC configured automatically." On a comparison page the company states that it sends through AWS SES. Free SPF, DKIM and DMARC checkers are available on the site, together with guides on deliverability, authentication, warmup, bounce rates, list building, segmentation, double opt-in and GDPR compliance.
On data, the site says "Everything runs on EU servers under GDPR-compliant processing, and the API lets you export your data whenever you want", and every plan "runs on EU infrastructure with GDPR-compliant data processing." The legal section includes a privacy policy, terms and a DPA, and there is a public status page.
Getting started
The onboarding is short by design: "Create an account, verify your domain, and fire off a send from the dashboard or the API. Invite teammates whenever it suits you." The site pitches the first send as five minutes away.
Who it suits
Bitelio suits SaaS teams and developers who want transactional and marketing email on one domain setup, one reputation and one bill, with a documented API, SMTP relay and webhooks. The send-based pricing favors senders with large lists who mail them occasionally, since contacts never raise the bill. Ecommerce shops can send order and shipping mail next to promotions, and agencies can keep separate projects and sending domains for each client. Teams that need EU hosting and a DPA will find both stated on the site.
It is a weaker fit for creators who expect landing pages, forms and product sales inside the email tool, which Bitelio leaves out on purpose. Very frequent senders to small lists should compare their monthly volume with the plan allowances, since billing follows every email sent.
