ActiveTrail is an email marketing and marketing automation platform that also sends SMS, WhatsApp messages and mobile push notifications. Businesses use it to build newsletters and campaigns in a drag-and-drop editor, run automated customer journeys across those channels, and collect leads with landing pages, pop-ups and surveys. The English homepage builds its pitch around putting customer data to work, with the promise to create automated, engaging customer journeys and send messages "across all channels: email, SMS, WhatsApp, and push notifications."
The company runs local sites in English, French, Spanish and Hebrew, each with its own phone line. The French and Spanish blogs aim the product at small and medium businesses, start-ups, B2B companies and online shops, and a latest-posts link on the English homepage says ActiveTrail was named a Tier 1 marketing automation platform in the STKI 2026 report.
Email campaigns
The homepage says you can easily create professional-looking campaigns with what it calls the world's most advanced email editor. The company's French newsletter tools article says the drag-and-drop editor builds professional emails in minutes without technical skills, renders well on mobile, tablet and desktop, and comes with a wide selection of customizable templates. The French site's feature list mentions dozens of templates, responsive design and an advanced email editor as its own page.
The English feature list for email includes newsletter templates, ready-to-use signup and lead forms, A/B testing, personalization, ActiveTriggers, contact management, an image editor, birthday campaigns, bounce management, user permissions, reports and analytics, domain keys, compliance with anti-spam laws, symbols in subject lines, a media server, dynamic contact groups, RSS campaigns and automatic removal. The French list adds predictive sending, dynamic forms, restricted access and real-time statistics. The Spanish homepage describes predictive sending as an innovative ActiveTrail feature and mentions a mobile app for sending a campaign and checking statistics from anywhere.
Automation and other channels
The automation section lists visual automations, autoresponders, triggers, dynamic segmentation, onsite behavioral triggers and cross-channel marketing, and the French list adds ActiveCommerce. The Spanish homepage sums it up as emails sent automatically to recipients in response to certain actions, and mentions conversion funnels and A/B tests alongside autoresponders and triggers.
According to the company's French software roundup, you can build multichannel automated scenarios combining email, SMS, WhatsApp marketing, mobile push and retargeting on social networks, each personalized to the contact's behavior. On SMS, the homepage says you can send personalized messages tailored to each customer's preference and schedule them for automated delivery; the feature list adds sending from your PC, automatic SMS campaigns, importing numbers into contact records, a Zapier integration and a caller ID option. WhatsApp is described as the most personal channel, and push notifications are aimed at re-engaging inactive customers.
For ecommerce and retail, the homepage describes "A unique data model" that connects data from offline and online sources into a single data lake for data-driven customer journeys. A 2026 blog item announces a new option to filter bots out of open and click metrics.
Landing pages, pop-ups and surveys
The landing page builder offers a professional editor, mobile responsiveness, your own domains or a custom subdomain, lead forms, PayPal and Facebook integrations, Google Analytics, an image editor, and no need for your own domain or servers. The Spanish site describes landing pages that convert potential customers into regular customers. Pop-ups and signup forms appear at the right moment to collect data and offer deals, according to the French roundup. Online surveys can be sent by email or SMS, include Net Promoter Score questions, and can be automated.
Integrations
The integrations list includes a RESTful API and webhooks, Zapier, Salesforce, PayPal, social and Facebook Leads integrations, Google Analytics, WordPress and ecommerce store connections. The Spanish homepage says ActiveTrail is easy to integrate with WordPress, Salesforce, CRM platforms and ecommerce stores. The French roundup says the Salesforce integration syncs information between the two platforms so customers can send automated campaigns based on content preferences, products used and online activity.
What customers say
The French homepage quotes three case studies. One customer says they chose ActiveTrail because it offered "un prix compétitif et un service personnalisé" (a competitive price and personalized service), another says they did not want a big, complicated solution and found ActiveTrail simple and easy to use, and a recruitment consultant says "Le support d’ActiveTrail est très réactif pour optimiser mes campagnes" (ActiveTrail's support is very responsive in optimizing my campaigns). The Hebrew homepage carries its own set of Israeli case studies.
Pricing and trial
ActiveTrail has no free plan. The company's Spanish Mailchimp alternatives article and its French software roundup both say you can test every feature free for 30 days, after which plans start at 8 € a month for 500 contacts with unlimited email sends and scale to 60,000 contacts for 186 € a month. The comparison table in the French article lists the entry plan as 100,000 emails and 500 contacts for 8€ a month. The Spanish homepage adds that no credit card is needed for the trial. The French article says there is no commitment and no need to pay large sums in advance.
The same Spanish article gives ActiveTrail's Trustpilot score as 4.7/5 from 39 reviews. An affiliate program pays a renewable 15% monthly commission, according to the French roundup.
Support, compliance and security
The company's blogs describe support by chat, phone and email, in French on the French site and with Spanish-speaking staff on the Spanish site, plus a learning center with free webinars. The site footers link to an anti-spam policy, a DPA (data processing addendum) and an ISO 27001 page, and the French footer has a page titled "Le RGPD et ActiveTrail" (GDPR and ActiveTrail). The Spanish article lists GDPR compliance among ActiveTrail's benefits for Spanish customers, and the French roundup says the platform lets you manage consent to email tracking in line with the new CNIL rules.
Who it suits
ActiveTrail suits small and medium businesses, online shops and B2B teams that want email plus SMS, WhatsApp and push in one automation tool, with landing pages, pop-ups and surveys included. French, Spanish and Hebrew speakers get local sites and local-language support, which matters for teams that want help in their own language. The contact-based pricing, from 500 contacts, lets a small list start cheaply and grow.
It suits someone looking for a free plan less, since there is only the 30-day trial. Teams that only need a transactional email API will find the product built around marketing campaigns and journeys instead.
