Bandsintown for Artists

Bandsintown for Artists is the artist side of Bandsintown, the concert discovery service, and its Email Builder is a free email tool made for musicians and their teams. The product page sums it up as "Email marketing designed for musicians." Artists and managers use it to send newsletters, tour announcements, presale alerts and release news to fans whose contacts they collect through Bandsintown. It sits alongside the other free artist tools, such as a tour-date widget, Smart Link, Posts and a fan manager, so email is one part of a wider kit for selling tickets and keeping in touch with fans. The company named in the page footer is Bandsintown, LLC.

The Email Builder

The editor is drag-and-drop. The product page describes "a simple but powerful interface with no coding skills", and adds an HTML and CSS code editor for anyone who wants to write the email by hand. Artists can start from the template collection, which the page says was "expertly crafted by music marketers and designers", or build from scratch.

Smart Blocks are the music-specific part. They add event listings, streaming and social links, a press photo and similar items "instantly", so a tour announcement can pull in the artist's dates and ticket links without retyping them. Before sending, artists can preview the email and send "as many test emails as you need until it's just right." Emails can be saved as drafts or scheduled for later.

Targeting and fan management

Audience targeting lets artists pick fans "by location, event activity, and more", which for a touring act means emailing only the fans near a city on the route or those who showed interest in a show. The product page groups the management tools under the heading "Features to grow, segment, and manage your audience":

  • Campaign Manager shows drafted, scheduled and sent campaigns in one dashboard.
  • Email Analytics gives email stats for adjusting the approach based on performance.
  • Fan Manager keeps all fan contacts in one place to manage and analyze.
  • Import and Export lets artists move contacts in and out at any time. The page puts it plainly: "They're your fans."

Data ownership comes up again in the FAQ area, which talks about expanding the audience with each Presale, messaging fans who sign up, and exporting contacts "to use with other platforms". An artist who later moves to another email service can take the list along.

Growing the list

Three tools feed the list. The Email Signup Form collects addresses directly on the artist's website through the Bandsintown Widget. The Widget itself keeps tour dates and ticket links synced on the site in a customizable embed. Smart Link shares all upcoming events and ticket links through one link in social posts, texts or emails.

Beyond the artist's own site, Bandsintown's audience is the draw. The product page says artists can "Tap into 100M of the world's most passionate live music fans with free Posts, Email Builder and more." The artist home page describes automatic fan contact collection and a built-in audience on Bandsintown, so fans who follow an artist on Bandsintown become reachable without the artist running its own signup campaign. The FAQ menu also lists Promoted Emails, Presale, Releases, Early Access and a Discovery Engine among the related tools.

Why email, in Bandsintown's words

The product page argues for email over social media. Under "Compared to social", it says email offers artists "4x higher organic reach" and "3x higher conversion rates", plus ownership of the fanbase, full creative control, no unpredictable algorithms and a direct-to-fan connection. These are Bandsintown's own figures. The page adds that email gives a direct line to the fans who want to support the artist, for a regular newsletter or a single note about a new song.

Integrations

The artist home page promotes "80+ ticketing integrations", which is how tour dates and ticket links reach the widget, Smart Blocks and emails without manual entry. It also advertises distributing tour dates "across all major platforms" and links an integrations section. The FAQ menu names Spotify, Google integrations and a Widget and API. The pages do not list the individual ticketing partners.

The wider artist toolkit

The artist home page frames the whole product around three problems: fans not finding out about shows, ticket sales slower than expected, and too much time spent on marketing. Its answers are "Publish once, reach fans everywhere", with tour dates distributed across major platforms; automated tour marketing "to the right fans at the right times"; automatic fan contact collection; and tools to "Amplify your music, sell more merch, and stay connected with your superfans." Email is the channel the artist controls within that set.

The testimonials on the home page, from people who run tour campaigns for artist rosters, mostly praise the Bandsintown team rather than the software: one says the team will "dig deep and get their hands dirty on tour announcements", and another says "We reach new audiences with every send."

Price

The Email Builder is presented as free. The product page lists it among "free Bandsintown for Artists tools", and the home page's call to action is "Sign up free". The pages show no paid email plan and no price list.

Support and policies

The site footer links a Help Center, a Contact Us page, a status page, tutorials, playbooks and an artist blog. It also carries a "GDPR/CCPA Privacy Request" link, terms of use and privacy and cookie policies.

Who it suits

Bandsintown for Artists is built for solo musicians, bands and the managers, labels and agents around them. The home page says it is "Loved by 700,000+ artists & teams worldwide", and its testimonials come from people who market tours and releases. The Email Builder makes the most sense for an act that already lists its dates on Bandsintown: dates, ticket links and fan contacts are already there, and an email about a new show or single takes a few blocks and a location filter.

It is not meant for other kinds of business. Everything in it, from the Smart Blocks to the targeting by event activity, assumes shows, releases and merch. A venue, promoter or festival may find related tools elsewhere on Bandsintown, but the Email Builder described here is for artists writing to their fans.
