Aivie is a marketing automation tool from Zurich that sends newsletters, personalized emails and automated campaigns, and runs on the open-source Mautic technology as a hosted service. The homepage describes it as "Marketing Automation aus der Schweiz" (marketing automation from Switzerland), and the footer names the company as Aivie by Idea2 at Wengistrasse 6 in Zurich. The blog makes clear who it is written for: Swiss and European small and medium-sized businesses that want automation without handing their customer data to a tool they do not control.
Open source with the comfort of SaaS
The central idea is on the homepage: Aivie "basiert auf der weltweit eingesetzten Marketing Automation Technologie Mautic" (is based on Mautic, the marketing automation technology used worldwide) and combines the advantages of open source with the convenience of a SaaS product. A customer gets Mautic without installing, patching or hosting it. The site's page list includes Mautic Hosting, Mautic as a Service, Mautic Support, a Mautic Workshop, Mautic plugins and Mautic email templates, so the company also serves teams that already know Mautic and want someone to run it for them.
A blog post titled "Mautic Insights" frames the offer around two things that take real effort with Mautic, infrastructure and usability, and says Aivie handles both for SMEs. Another post is a first-person account from someone who set up Mautic for the first time nine years ago, and a 2021 press release describes Adrian Schimpf of Aivie working on a new email builder for the Mautic open-source community. The company is a contributor to the project it builds on, not only a reseller of it.
What a sender gets
The homepage lists what comes ready to use: personalized design, automated campaigns, tracking and lead scoring. The use cases in the menu show how the company expects the tool to be used: lead generation through the website, automating marketing processes, personalized emails, lead management as a CRM and marketing reporting.
For email, Aivie supports classic newsletters and the campaign-style sending the company argues for. One blog post is titled "Stop sending newsletters: start running campaigns" and makes the case for moving from mass newsletters to nurturing sequences. The homepage describes predefined campaign logic that helps address contacts more precisely, with new campaign structures added "auf Knopfdruck" (at the push of a button). A best practice setup includes ready-made templates in the customer's own corporate design, so every email and page carries the brand from the start.
Segmentation is covered in a step-by-step blog guide that opens with "Targeted contact segmentation is the key to successful marketing automation." A customer quote on the homepage, from Iara-Safira Do Amaral of Falcone Specialities, says Aivie let the company segment its contacts and share only the information relevant to each segment. The blog's categories also cover forms, website and content, sales funnels and lead nurturing, matching the lead generation and lead management use cases.
Reporting is part of the same account. The homepage says Aivie brings all marketing processes and customer data into one place and that detailed analyses and reports give a "360° Kundensicht" (360-degree customer view). Deliverability gets attention too: a blog post on complaint management explains how to monitor the spam complaint rate, since complaints hurt both deliverability and the brand.
AI features
The footer lists a Generative AI Pilot. A blog post titled "A newsletter from just one photo: How effectively AI works at Aivie" describes building a full newsletter from a single team photo taken at a lake, and opens with "Just a few minutes, and I'm sitting in front of my finished newsletter. All I needed for it? A single photo." A more recent post discusses how marketing teams can use agentic AI while keeping their legal team on board, in line with the company's data sovereignty theme.
Integrations and extensibility
Because the core is open source, Aivie positions integration as open-ended. The homepage says Mautic's open-source approach creates "endlose Integrationsmöglichkeiten" (endless integration options), and that apps can be connected through existing plugins, custom code, or integration platforms such as Zapier, n8n and Make. It also says the tool can be extended through "zahlreiche Plug-ins und Schnittstellen" (numerous plugins and interfaces). The site links to an Integrations page and to developer documentation.
Hosting and data sovereignty
Data location is the headline differentiator. The homepage says Aivie uses local, certified servers and hosts "sicher und datenschutzkonform in Europa, der Schweiz oder deiner Wunschregion" (securely and in line with data protection rules in Europe, Switzerland or your preferred region). A section headed Datenschutz & Datenhoheit (data protection and data sovereignty) says data sovereignty stays with the customer, who keeps full control of their data. The site also has a page on the Swiss data protection law. Several blog posts return to the subject, including one on how a US court ruling affects transfers of customer data to the USA and one on Swiss public bodies turning to open source software.
Trial, pricing and services
There is a free trial rather than a free plan. The homepage says: "Nutze Aivie 30 Tage lang kostenlos" (use Aivie free for 30 days), and adds that the trial already offers every option of the full version. Demos can be booked, a demo account and a video are available, and there is a Prices page linked from the menu, though the homepage itself shows no plan prices. The shop cart displays amounts in CHF.
Beyond the software, Aivie sells services: a strategy workshop, use case packages and growth services, plus support. The homepage says experienced experts and a network of specialists stand behind the tool, developing it continuously and helping customers reach their marketing goals. The resources include a marketing automation course, a webinar, a guide on winning customers with lead nurturing, a marketing automation canvas, a glossary and a support FAQ. A partner program is aimed at content creators, bloggers and YouTubers. The site is available in German, English, French, Italian and Finnish.
Customer examples
Two customer cases show the range of use. Studer Cables uses Aivie to automate material compliance checks with suppliers and, according to the case, saves several days of work per cycle. BODDY, a travel and wellness tech startup, needed scalable email marketing after it acquired its Danish competitor TrainAway in 2023 and its user base grew into six figures.
Who it suits
Aivie suits Swiss and European SMEs that want email campaigns, lead scoring and automation with their data hosted in Switzerland, Europe or a region they choose, and teams that like the idea of Mautic but do not want to run the servers or fight the interface. Marketing teams already on self-hosted Mautic can hand over hosting and support. It is less suited to a buyer who wants a price table to compare before a call, since plan prices are not shown on the homepage, or to a sender who needs a large catalog of native one-click integrations rather than plugins and integration platforms.
