Yet Another Mail Merge

Yet Another Mail Merge (YAMM) is a mail merge add-on for Gmail and Google Sheets: you keep your recipient list in a spreadsheet, write the message as a Gmail draft, and YAMM sends each person a personalized copy from your own Gmail account, then reports opens, clicks, replies and bounces back into the sheet. The homepage pitches it for lead generation campaigns, event invitations, promotions, email newsletters and surveys, and says YAMM has been adopted by 150,000 organizations and 10+ million users. It is made by Talarian Sàrl, the company behind Awesome Table, Form Publisher and GPT for Work.
Sending a campaign in three steps
The homepage breaks a campaign into three steps. First, prepare the mailing list in Google Sheets, with one column named Email and further columns for anything you want to merge, such as first names; you can even import contacts automatically from Google Contacts. Second, create the email template in Gmail: choose a template, write a draft with content and subject line, add personalization using markers that match the names of your spreadsheet columns, and save it. You can use saved Gmail templates. Third, return to Google Sheets, open Yet Another Mail Merge and send; the add-on asks you to select the draft and fill in other details of the campaign. The homepage headline promises to help you reach the primary inbox and to track results in real time directly from Google Sheets.
The site's longer guide walks through installing YAMM from the Google Workspace Marketplace inside Sheets, granting it permission to your Google account, and starting a merge from the add-ons menu. It also explains that YAMM requires a Google account, because it works with Gmail and runs as a Google Sheets add-on.
Personalization and formatting
Personalization runs on markers in the draft that YAMM replaces with each row's data, so a subject line or body can include the recipient's name, company or any other column. Because the template is a normal Gmail draft, it can carry images, links and text formatting, and the guide notes that YAMM lets you use Google Layouts templates directly in the Gmail editor. Other options it lists for customizing a merge include sending from a Gmail alias that recipients will recognize, and personalized attachments, where the relevant file is attached automatically for each recipient. The guide's example is an invoice sent to each client as its own PDF.
Before a full send, YAMM has a "Send a test email" button on its add-on panel, which sends the merged message to you alone so you can check that every personalized field is filled in and the layout holds up. The guide also suggests a small test group of colleagues added to the sheet. When everything is ready, emails can go out immediately or be scheduled for later. Each recipient then gets an individual email with their own text and attachments, not a copy with everyone in the address line.
The guide lists the mistakes that most often spoil a merge: markers that do not match the column headers in the sheet, inaccurate or misspelled data in the rows, messages sent without any real personalization, no proofreading, and mailing the same people too often. Matching every marker to a header, cleaning the sheet and reading the test email covers most of them.
Tracking in the spreadsheet
Once a campaign is sent, the spreadsheet itself shows what happened: YAMM marks email opens, clicks, replies and bounces against each row, so you can see who opened, who clicked a link and whose address bounced, and decide what to send next. Keeping results next to the data means a follow-up is simply a new merge filtered on those columns. The guide recommends segmenting a large list by characteristics such as location, industry or interests, which in YAMM means sorting or splitting the rows of the sheet before sending.
Integrations and lead generation
YAMM sits on Gmail, Google Sheets and Google Contacts. For lead generation, the homepage says you can import email addresses from Google Contacts or from your CRM, naming Salesforce, Hubspot and Copper, and then send personalized emails to them. The guide describes use cases including newsletters, surveys, project milestone updates, promotions, discount offers, abandoned cart reminders, confirmations, announcements, transactional notices and welcome emails.
The guide also reminds senders that, depending on the mail merge tool and plan, there may be limits on how many recipients you can email each day, and it advises following anti-spam practice: get permission before emailing people, provide a clear opt-out, and avoid spammy language.
AI email tools
YAMM's site offers a set of AI email tools: a Subject Line Generator, Email Writer, Sentiment Analyser, Grammar Fixer and Tone Rewriter. The subject line generator takes an email body of up to 2500 characters and a tone and produces subject lines, generated with OpenAI gpt-4o-mini. For bulk work the page points to GPT for Work, Talarian's separate extension, which it says works directly in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, handles thousands of rows, needs no API key, and supports ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Ollama, Grok, DeepSeek and Mistral. These tools are adjacent to the mail merge rather than built into the sending flow.
Pricing, security and support
The homepage invites you to get started for free and links to a separate pricing page; plan prices and daily sending limits are not given on the homepage itself. The legal and security section lists terms of service, a privacy policy, a Google disclosure, a DPA, security resources and an ISO 27001 certificate. Support resources include a getting started guide, documentation, a support page, release notes, a blog and Trustpilot reviews. A customer comment on the homepage praises the speed of support, describing an almost immediate response that identified the source of the problem.
Who YAMM suits
YAMM fits people and teams who already live in Google Workspace and want to send personalized one-to-one style emails to a list held in a spreadsheet: sales and business development outreach, partnership requests, event invitations, surveys, internal announcements and small newsletters. A testimonial on the homepage describes a company that sends all its outbound, partnership, business development, sales and internal email with it. Because messages go out through your own Gmail account, they arrive as personal email rather than as a newsletter from a bulk sender, and the volume you can send depends on your plan. Buyers who want drag-and-drop newsletter design, subscriber management with signup forms, or multi-step automated sequences will not find those described; YAMM is a spreadsheet-driven mail merge first.
