MergeMail is a mail merge add-on for Gmail. It sends personalized bulk email from your own Gmail account: you list recipients in a Google Sheet, write the email in Gmail, drop in variables that match your column names, and MergeMail sends one individual copy to each person and tracks what happens next. The homepage headline is "Send bulk emails in Gmail," followed by "Personalize, send, and track bulk emails within Gmail. Easy, free mail merge." The feature set covers mail merge, open and click tracking, reusable templates and a template editor, scheduled sending, personalized CC and BCC, personalized links and images, unsubscribe links, campaign reporting with UTM codes, team collaboration and a Zapier integration. On the Premium and Team plans, a delivery integration lets you send through your own email service and lift Gmail's daily cap. Prices are in USD, and the pricing page says the company is "very happy to support international customers." It is built for people who already do their email in Gmail and keep their contacts in a spreadsheet: salespeople, recruiters, small businesses and anyone sending a newsletter-sized list without a separate platform.
What a sender actually gets
Mail merge from a Google Sheet. You "List recipients in a Google Sheet," then personalize "with any fields that you want." The mail merge page explains the mechanics: "To personalize your emails, use variables (e.g., {{First Name}}) in your email text. Each variable corresponds to a column name in your spreadsheet." You start a new campaign, open the MergeMail pane on the right of Gmail, choose Variables and paste the one you need into the message. The same approach extends beyond the body text. You can "Use a personalized CC and/or BCC value for each outgoing email," and personalized links and images work the same way: "Simply put the link or image in a column to use it as a variable."
Templates and the template editor. If you write content you expect to reuse, you can save it as a template from the MergeMail pane (Templates, then Save) and "use that template anytime in the future." The template editor offers "Beautiful templates for newsletters or other outreach," with variables for personalization, and MergeMail tracks the performance of each template so you can see which wording works.
Previews, scheduling and unsubscribes. You can preview emails before sending, which the site pitches as a way to "Have 100% confidence in your email content." Scheduled emails go out "at a specified time," and the site ties this to open rates: "Optimize your open rates by sending at just the right time." You can insert unsubscribe links so recipients can "choose to unsubscribe from future emails."
Tracking and reporting. MergeMail tracks email opens and clicks on links in each email. Reporting lets you "Compare the performance of multiple campaigns and templates," and it can "Measure conversion rates with automatic UTM codes," so traffic from a campaign shows up tagged in your web analytics.
Collaboration. Teams can "Share templates and campaigns with other team members" and "Compare the performance of team members' templates." On the Team plan you choose a number of seats, invite users, and change seats or users at any time; the pricing FAQ notes that "The users do not need to be in the same domain as you."
Delivery integrations. By default MergeMail sends through Gmail, so Gmail's limits apply. On the Premium and Team plans you can connect a delivery integration and "Send email using your own email service to have full control," which lets you "Send as many emails as you want."
Integrations. A Zapier integration connects MergeMail "to over 1,500 different tools," and the site names Salesforce, HubSpot, Google Sheets and Slack. The integrations page gives example workflows: update a contact record in HubSpot, Salesforce or another CRM when you send an email; send a colleague an email or yourself a Slack message when a campaign goes out; send yourself an email or update a Google Sheet when someone clicks a link; send a MergeMail email to a contact added as a new row in a Google Sheet; and send a personalized email when someone submits a Google Form.
Privacy. The site says "Unlike other mail merge tools, MergeMail does not require access to your entire Gmail inbox," and "MergeMail lets you choose which permissions you are comfortable granting to it."
Plans and prices
The pricing page opens with "Send up to 50 emails per day for free, or sign up for a plan to send more!" Paying yearly gives "a discount of approximately 25%."
- Free: 50 emails a day.
- Pro: 200 emails a day, $16 a month billed monthly or $12 a month billed yearly.
- Premium: 1,500 emails a day or more. The page spells out the limits: unlimited emails with a delivery integration, 1,500 emails per day with G Suite, or 400 emails per day with an @gmail.com account. It costs $65 a month billed monthly or $49 a month billed yearly.
- Team: multiple users at $24 per user per month billed monthly, or $19 billed yearly, with volume discounts. Like Premium, it can send unlimited email with a delivery integration.
The FAQ says Premium and Team let you "send as many emails as Gmail lets you," with a delivery integration for anything beyond that. Payment is by major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Visa Electron and Maestro), and you can contact the company about other methods. Plans can be changed or canceled at any time from the Account page, with "no additional charge for canceling early" and "no minimum contract length." If you cancel mid-period, you keep your plan's features until the end of the billing period.
Support
Help pages include guides to using MergeMail, and the pricing FAQ invites new users to get in touch: "We love to help our users have a great experience on MergeMail." A contact page and a blog are linked from every page.
Who it suits
MergeMail suits Gmail users who want to send personalized bulk email from a spreadsheet without learning a new platform: a salesperson sending cold outreach from their own inbox, a recruiter contacting candidates, a small business mailing its customer list, a club or nonprofit sending updates. The free plan covers small sends, Pro suits steady low-volume outreach, and Premium or Team with a delivery integration removes the daily cap for larger lists or several senders. The Zapier workflows make it easy to trigger emails from forms or new spreadsheet rows and to log activity in a CRM. The feature pages show no automated follow-up sequences, so multi-step cold campaigns are run by hand.
