DocGPT.ai makes AI add-ons for Google Workspace, and its email product is Mail Merge for Gmail and Sheets. The add-on sends personalized bulk emails from a user's own Gmail or Google Workspace account to a list kept in a Google Sheet, with open, click and reply tracking, scheduling and per-recipient attachments. The product page pitches it as a way to "Send personalized mass emails, track opens & clicks, and achieve 98% deliverability," and its FAQ calls it "a privacy-first, Gmail-integrated outreach solution" that is "Perfect for B2B sales, recruiting, and job seekers who want a fast, reliable, and lightweight outreach tool."
The same company sells GPT for Sheets, an AI Email Assistant for Gmail, GPT for Docs and an AI presentation maker for Slides. For email senders, the mail merge add-on and the Gmail assistant are the relevant parts.
How a campaign runs
The product page walks through four steps:
- Install the add-on from Google Workspace, open a Google Sheet, and launch "Mail Merge for Gmail and Sheets" from the Extensions menu.
- Set up the sheet. A "Set Up Sheet" button adds the required columns. Contacts can be imported from Google Contacts or pasted in, and any number of custom columns can be added.
- Write a Gmail draft using {{Column Name}} variables, with personalized links and images.
- Launch the campaign by choosing the draft, enabling tracking and clicking "Start Campaign," then watching progress in the sheet.
Common variables include {{First Name}}, {{Last Name}}, {{Email}} and {{Company}}, and "Any Column" in the sheet can be used, for example a custom URL, a meeting time or a product. The FAQ says subject lines, body text, CC and BCC fields and attachments can all be personalized. The company says the add-on takes "less than 2 minutes" to get started, with no credit card required.
What a sender gets
The page lists "Power Features Included in All Plans":
- Sending. Scheduling, personalized file attachments per recipient, CC and BCC for each email, Gmail drafts as templates, and "HTML email support with rich formatting."
- Tracking. Opens and link clicks, replies and bounces, unsubscribe tracking, "Visual status updates in Sheets" and engagement analytics. A "Refresh Email Status" button updates results, and each recipient's status shows a timeline of events that can be exported. Campaign analytics cover delivery rate, open and click-through rates, responses, bounces and unsubscribes, and the page mentions generating performance reports.
- Personalization. "Unlimited custom fields," dynamic content, personalized links, custom images per recipient and "AI-powered personalization."
- Scheduling. Campaigns can be scheduled in advance with "Timezone-intelligent delivery" and "Automated follow-ups."
To protect the sender's reputation, the FAQ says the add-on sends "directly through your Gmail account," adds "randomized time delays between messages," and supports "domain warm-up and engagement best practices." It also states that it "adheres to Google's sending limits and never exceeds your Gmail quota," which the FAQ gives as "Up to 2,000 emails/day with a Google Workspace account" and "Up to 500 emails/day with a standard Gmail account (@gmail.com)."
Teams can share sheets to build campaigns together, see metrics "from a shared dashboard" and add or remove users. The FAQ says the add-on is "Trusted by organizations with 100K+ users."
CRM logging and privacy
There is no native CRM connector for the mail merge. The FAQ explains how to log messages in HubSpot or Salesforce instead: "Use your CRM's unique BCC address" and add it to the BCC column in the sheet.
On privacy, the company lists "GDPR compliant," "TAS security certified" and "Data never leaves Google." The FAQ adds that contact data "Stays inside your Google Spreadsheet," "Is never stored on external servers," and is "protected with minimal permissions (no inbox or file access)."
AI for writing the emails
DocGPT.ai's AI Email Assistant works inside Gmail. According to the home page, it can reply to an email "in 1 click with AI," write "AI Personalized Cold Emails" from custom instructions, and correct grammar, spelling, style and tone, in "100+ languages and 10+ writing tones." The home page lists it at "255K+ installs." Inside Google Sheets, GPT for Sheets adds an EMAIL_SEND() function for "Bulk email sending," personalized cold email generation and A/B testing of subject lines and copy. The company says its products need no API keys from the user. Across its products, the home page reports a customer rating of "4.8/5 by 1000+ users."
Plans and pricing
The mail merge has a free plan: "Up to 20 emails/day," "Access to basic personalization" and "Gmail-based delivery." Paid plans are listed on the product page with a monthly price for each and a lower per-month price when billed annually (the toggle is labeled "SAVE 40%"), and the page tells buyers to purchase with the same email they use in Google.
- Starter, $4.99 a month on monthly billing or $3.99 a month paid annually: 100 emails a month, 2 campaigns, 1 sender, send on autopilot, branding removal and basic personalization.
- Premium (marked popular), $12.99 a month or $10.99 a month paid annually: 15,000 emails a month, unlimited campaigns and 3 senders, plus email tracking, Sheets automation, attachments, advanced personalization, campaign scheduling, custom templates and priority email support.
- Pro (marked best value), $24.99 a month or $20.99 a month paid annually: unlimited emails, unlimited campaigns and 5 senders, plus bounce detection, email verification, follow-up campaigns, priority support and advanced analytics.
On annual billing, Starter rises to 1,000 emails a month and 10 campaigns. The page describes its prices as "Special launch pricing! The price will increase as we add more features."
Subscriptions are managed from a link in each invoice, and "Your access remains until the end of your billing cycle" after canceling. The home page says paid plans get priority email support with a response "within 24 hours," and a help center offers how-to guides and troubleshooting.
Who it suits
The add-on suits people who work in Gmail and Google Sheets and send personalized outreach at modest volume: a salesperson or founder sending cold emails, a recruiter contacting candidates, an HR team sending onboarding notes, or a freelancer sending client updates and proposals. The product page also names marketers sending newsletters and campaigns among its users. The free plan covers small tests, and the paid plans are inexpensive by the page's own numbers.
It is bound to Gmail and Google Sheets, so teams on another mail system cannot use it, and CRM logging relies on BCC rather than a direct integration.
